LWCRA and work

Hey you lovely lot its been a while 🥰

So in the time I've been away a lot has gone on, my mental health completely went to crap last year and I had to make the decision to leave my job due to not coping.

Since then I've been attending a local mental health support charity who have been brilliant!
I'm also doing a little bit of agency, not a lot but a few days here and there.

Anyway I have spoken with the charity I attend and we spoke about how although I'm coping with a day here and there with the agency I certainly aren't currently in a position to go back to work full time which I recognize within myself. I applied and have just been awarded LWCRA (limited work capability and work related activities)

This will help me financially wise while I'm getting better. I don't want to quit work all together as I can manage a couple of days but can anyone advice me on how much I'm allowed to do before this will effect my claim, I don't think I'm earning enough for it to have a knick on effect anyway but I just want to be careful because some weeks I can manage 2 days (12 hours) other weeks I physically cant even get out of bed.

Any insight would be appreciated 🥰

Thank you in advance and I hope you are doing well too.

    Hey OIAM,

I also get LCWRA, have done for just under 4 years now.

I’m honestly not entirely sure how much you can earn. It’s worth speaking to someone like citizens advice, your job centre would tell you but they might also tell you not to work at all on LCWRA (this is a fear of mine so I’ve never asked them). So someone independent like citizens advice might be good to go to.

Sorry to hear you’ve had such a tough year btw, I wondered how things were for you as I haven’t seen you in ages!

Thank you so much @independent_ I hope you are doing well 🥰

Its definitely been a while ha ha, this is all very confusing I've heard so many different things about what the answer to this is. So I think citizens advice would be a great idea xx

Hello @One-in-a-million - I also thought how I had not seen your name for a while!

    Turn2Us state the following:
If you have already been assessed as having limited capability for work or for work-related activity as part of your UC claim, you can work while still being treated as having limited capability for work. If you are doing a lot of work, this might mean the DWP will want to do another Work Capability Assessment to check whether your condition has changed.

If you haven't had a Work Capability Assessment yet and are earning more than £722.45 per month, you won't be able to have a Work Capability Assessment unless you are also getting PIP, DLA or Attendance Allowance.

Please let us know if you have any further questions but it sounds like reaching out to Citizen's Advice might be helpful for you. Please let us know how things go for you once you have reached out to Citizen's Advice/are able to locate the answer!

It might also vary depending on the amount of LCWRA award and the conditions which have impacted your capability for work <3
