Thank you for sharing that with us @Rose113, it can be really worrying when we receive results that we don't quite understand. It's really positive that you're going back to discuss a plan with the specialist. Remember that googling conditions or symptoms can often lead us down a path of worry. I'm sure your specialist will have a plan in place to help you moving forward. It's good that they've found out what the root cause of your tummy pain is and now they can help treat it <3

Hey @Rose113. That sounds really difficult :/ As someone with multiple chronic illnesses, this is something I have also experienced.

How are you feeling about meeting with your specialist next week? We are here with you if you would like to talk to us more about this and about how your appointment goes :)

It is okay to feel scared @Rose113. Though, you don't have to feel scared alone. Is there a particular part which you are feeling scared about?

For example, is it all the appointments, treatments or the idea it might never get better or something else? There are lots of reasons why health can feel scary but there are professionals there to guide us and our support network can support us through it. Self-care is also super important!

@Laura_tigger82 what if they say there’s no fix :( it’s just gonna make life not even worth carrying on with

It is true that there is not always a fix @Rose113. Sometimes, there are just tools we add to our toolbox to manage our symptoms, rather than 'fix'/'cure' our symptoms. The bigger our toolboxes are, the more manageable it becomes to still enjoy life and find meaning in it.

How do you think you would manage if they were to say that? Though, hopefully, they will be able to work with you to create a plan for managing your health, especially now they (finally!) know what is causing it! That plan can also be tweaked based on how you find it over time too :)

@Laura_tigger82 i don’t know :/ still don’t think life would be worth living. Just want a cure for this pain cos it’s been unbearable for years and the past 2 months have been the worst with it :/

Hey @Rose113, it's understandable that you would want a cure for this pain that you've been dealing with for years. There's no wonder you're feeling anxious about the possibility of there being no cure. It's important to remember that your condition doesn't define you, and there are so many parts of your life that are important and meaningful. <3

It's really positive that you're in conversation with specialists who should be able to put a plan in place to help you manage the pain - sometimes it can be about trial and error and seeing what works for you. It's not an easy process, but you're doing all the right things in being open with your medical team. Do you think it could be helpful to start a diary on how you're feeling each day and how the pain is? This might help your medical team better understand your pain and how it's affecting your day to day life.

Hey @Rose113, I found this website here (I know it's American but it breaks it down quite well) on how to start a pain management diary: https://www.ptcoa.com/improve-your-pain-management-by-keeping-a-pain-journal

It lists some ideas for what you could start recording each day and you could tailor this to whatever you're experiencing. :)
