    I haven't read the article but I don't think it's true. There is research that suggests that affirmations and generally believing in yourself and thinking positively can help with emotional wellbeing. Of course, thinking positively won't fix all of life's problems and there may be some times in life where we think positively and take chances only to find out that it doesn't work out. But that doesn't mean that affirmations don't help at all. It can definitely help us to feel better though!

    When they say we’re not supposed to be happy, maybe it’s like we’re not supposed to be happy constantly. Because sometimes people are trying to achieve this constant sense of happiness when most of the time we should feel neutral. I’m not sure, I guess it depends on what your definition of happiness is.

    Sorry. Maybe the scientist just meant that we’re not supposed to be happy all the time, if that makes sense.
