    Hi @ellie2000 ☺️

Although doing nothing can sometimes feel lonely, I think it is also important to give yourself a rest sometimes, physically and mentally, in order to prevent burnout. A lot of people also thrive on being alone and doing nothing, it allows them to come up with ideas and be creative in the future - I think I’m one of these people!

It can be easy to feel guilty about doing nothing, as we are constantly told by the media that we need to be being productive in order to be ‘worthy’, but I think resting and reenergising is just as important!

Do you enjoy doing nothing or do you like to keep busy?
    Keep fighting the good fight!

I agree, doing nothing can sometimes feel lonely however i do think that it is very important to have time just for yourself even if it is doing nothing and just relaxing for a short amount of time :)

Hey @ellie2000 - that's a good question. As you say, in some ways, it can bring unwelcome thoughts (e.g. feeling lonely, or experiencing emotions that we haven't addressed). And in some ways, it can bring welcome thoughts (e.g. a moment of stillness amidst a hectic life). Either way, in that moment, when you've got nothing else to distract, it's a prime time for us to pay attention to our thoughts and feelings. To echo what @LydsRose9 said, creative people also cherish having 'doing nothing' time, as they can often get ideas and inspiration when they have that head space. So, doing nothing isn't necessarily a bad thing - it can also be a good thing :)

How do you feel when you do nothing? Is it a positive experience for you, or one that you find more difficult to deal with?

Playing the keyboard and singing sound like a lot of fun, can I ask why you got worried? Don’t feel you have to answer if you don’t feel comfortable doing so.

Burnout is literally defined as ‘a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress’. This can happen to a lot of people, and a good remedy for some people that feel this is to be alone, as they can process and try and reduce the stress on their own.

In terms of feeling ‘worthy’, I think it is about feeling like you have value to yourself and, perhaps, society. For many people they need this feeling in order to feel like they have a valuable place in society, but of course it is different for everyone, and not everyone needs this feeling of worthiness to feel satisfied with their place in the world.

@ellie2000 Experiencing the feelings during idle moments is normal, and they can vary from person to person and situation to situation. How you perceive and respond to idleness can depend on your personality, current circumstances, and personal preferences. It's also worth noting that finding a healthy balance between activity and relaxation is essential for overall well-being.
