I think it's hard to completely 'replace' a bad memory. But I think we, as humans, tend to remember and focus on the negative things rather than the positive ones (generally speaking). For example, I went on a school trip abroad and when I think about it now I think about how I was so depressed the entire time and how I felt so claustrophobic being in a small hotel room with three other people at night for four nights. But I don't tend to focus on the amazing experience and the fun I had! It was such a great new experience. I think it's kinda about having a balance and remembering not to let the bad memories take over your life.

It can also help to try and change the way you view your memories. For example instead of viewing a time I got rejected in year 8 (it's actually such a funny story lol but that's not the point) as embarrassing and awkward and horrible, I can think of it as a show of my courage for telling my crush I liked them. And it's also something I can learn from! Majority of the time our bad memories and experiences are all things we can learn from in some way.

    I hope this helps/makes sense and I hope you're doing ok! :)

Hey again Ellie Xee is right i think you cant necessarily replace a bad memory but good mabye try and see if theris anything good you can take away from it or anything you learnt. sometimes everyhting happens for a reason and altho as humans we tend to see the bad in things focusing on the positives and distracting does help.
