You,
you have been many people
I,
to me inconsequential, useless
but you gave me meaning
Later on I found out I shouldn't seek my worth in you
but warmth, joy and moments
spread across toast, the way the stars sprinkle the sky
brought flavor and surprises to my life
yet still you had thorns,
no matter how pillowy your petals I could no longer be poisoned
found our distance uncomfortable then being around you foreign
as foreign as being able to tell myself I didn't need you
He is new
fresh and dewy with light laughter that could encompass any room
hindering on the past but trying to look forward in efforts to erase,
all that is, was and forever shall be you
eyes that pierced every single ounce of my faulty heart
spent days in a car
the time spent being alien to me
But he is you, you are him and she will be you too
because it is not about your being
so much so as is it that I'm unable to keep breathing when
I am not surrounded by a you
This feeling as domestic as people living in a constant state of boredom
Isolation
A thing that keeps me glued,
continuously trying to refuse
who will you be
to stay,
to make the pain go away,
to merely exist in relation to
For without you,
I am me
and you are separate
something untouchable
I love the pleasure of being near You
you have been many people
I,
to me inconsequential, useless
but you gave me meaning
Later on I found out I shouldn't seek my worth in you

Just to let you know that I've moved this to Creativity Corner, so that it's in the same place as other poetry-style pieces.
