Hello and Introductions

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 13 Settling in
Hi my name is Nicholas Karitci but I prefer to be called Nic. I am 17 years old but will be turning 18 next month. I have Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, OCD and Anxiety. I also have some other medical conditions. I like to write medical reports because I want to be a doctor or another healthcare professional working in the field of mental health and I would want to work in CAMHS. This is because of my own experiences with mental health and I've had support from CAMHS. I enjoy going to my charity called Generate and they support people with Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities and other medical conditions. I also enjoy going to respite care once a month.

I would love to get to know about you.

Kind regards,

Nic - Member of the Mix

    Hi Nic, its nice to meet you! I'm Jakub and I probably have a lot of mental health conditions but I couldn't tell you which exactly because I didn't go to get anything diagnosed yet.
    Its awesome that you enjoy going to your charity to support people, it must be so rewarding!
    Looking forward to seeing you around, take care!

    Hey Nic! I'm Xee :) Welcome to the Mix!! I'm pretty new here too, I only joined a few days ago. I also have anxiety and adhd and a few other things too so I get the struggle. And same!! I wanna study psychology at uni, I know there are so many different paths I could take from there but I really want to help others who are struggling, I feel like it'll be the most fulfilling job to feel like I'm making a difference. My therapist has pretty much saved my life, I'd love to have even half that positive impact on someone else. I hope you're doing well and I'm always here if u wanna chat :)

    I'd love to study psychology too! the only problem is that I realised this while being half way through a software engineering course lol, so I don't think there is much I can do. Maybe someday...

    @JJLemon18 Oof that sucks. Must be so annoying, but software engineering doesn't sound too bad (not that I would choose it personally lol). How is it? And yeah maybe one day! It's never too late to do what you wanna do. My aunt changed her entire career path at the age of 30 because she was so miserable with her job but now she loves what she does! :)

    Its hard, at least for me (but then again I find absolutely everything hard :lol:) but it is something I kinda enjoy. I'm hoping to study psychology in the future as I find it fascinating and maybe pursue two careers. No idea how that would work haha

    My day has been going really well I went on a fun trip with my charity and we had to use our 5 senses and then we went to crazy golf.

    How was your day?

    @Nicholas Ooh sounds pretty fun, I love crazy golf. My day has been a little difficult tbh, I had therapy today and it was a bit of an exhausting session but I'm doing ok. Think I'm gonna get an early night tonight, I'm exhausteddd

    @JJLemon18

    Thank you for your message and warm welcome. I understand what you are going through and sometimes it cannot be easy going through something and not having a diagnosis. Is this something that you would want to think about doing so then you don't have to worry?

    You are absolutely right it is rewarding about being able to support others in need and I am always enjoying doing this.

    Take care,

    Nic

    @Xee

    Hi Xee,

    Thank you for your further message. It is great news that you like crazy golf too. I am sorry that your day was a bit difficult but that is understandable about your therapy session being exhausting. That is a good idea about trying to go to bed early.

    Take it easy.

    @Xee

    Hi Xee,
    Thank you for sharing about your anxiety and ADHD amongst other things. It is great knowing that there are people out there like me who will be able to understand me and my needs. I know the rest of the community will offer their support too. I am glad your therapy has helped you.

    It is good that you want to make a difference to other people's lives. I never knew that there were different paths into psychology and I wonder what they are. At the moment I am in college still and I am an Entry Level 2 for Math's and next year I will be doing GCSE for English.

    Getting some sort of diagnosis is something I'm thinking about but I don't think I have the courage to go to my doctor yet. Also I'm worried that knowing about any illnesses I may have could make me feel worse about myself.

    See you around!

    Hi Jakub,

    Thank you for your message. I understand the feeling that you are going through about these things making you feel worse about yourself. I am sorry to hear that you feel like you do not have the courage but you should always believe in yourself and always have the faith. Surely family or friends could be able to support you?

    All the best!

    Nic
