Whamageddon 2022

This is a tradition that has been running on The Mix for the past 3 years and it's almost that time again. If you are wondering what on earth I am talking about or what Whamageddon is, it is similar to rickrolling someone but it is only in December and it is a completely different song. Whamageddon is about not hearing the original version of Last Christmas by Wham (hence the challenge being Whamageddon.) You may also see it on social media because it's something that a lot of people enjoy doing as a festive tradition and it has been something ongoing for many years (before it started on The Mix.)

Here are the rules.

1. The objective is to go as long as possible without hearing Wham's Christmas Classic "Last Christmas"
2. The game starts on 1st December and ends at midnight on December 24th.
3. Only the original version applies. Enjoy the #!€#%!€%€& out of remixes and covers!
4. You are out as soon as you recognise the original version being played.

No prizes for winning though. But you do get the glory of knowing that you avoided being Whammed. Usually I manage to get through the whole time without being Whammed but due to unforseen circumstances I sadly won't be able to maintain my winning streak this year. Maybe I can try again next year.

    Ha, I lasted a day and a half. I feel your pain @Dancer . The good news is that all the money from the song goes to charity, so we can at least do something good by listening to it loads once out!

    13 days on, and not heard it so far. Heard plenty of Xmas music, visited Christmas markets, and even gone to a couple parties, but no sign of Wham yet! Honestly no idea how it hasn't played yet :open_mouth:

    In the same boat as you @Azziman - amazed I've managed to dodge it so far. I tend to wear headphones out which helps but we've had the office radio on all December and... so far so good.

    I've come to report that I have sadly been Whammed several times this year, I think the first time was within the first week of December

    I tried sooo hard with this, this year but The Mix's Christmas party knocked me out last week :( I guess I'll have to try again next year!
