World Wellbeing Week - what is your favourite self-care activity?

AifeAife Community Manager Posts: 3,031 Boards Guru
Heyy everyone,

It's World Wellbeing Week this week and I thought this would make a nice post on the community where we can all share our favourite self-care activities.

We've created a really nice post over on our Instagram page with a few different self-care tips that might have some you enjoy doing too.

[Image description: The graphic shows six self-care activities and is titled 'Self-care tips'. At the top of the image, there is a picture of a journal, with a text bubble that reads 'Start a journal', next there is a photo of trees, below there is a photo of a TV with text that reads 'Watch your favourite film'. At the bottom row, there is a photo of a speech bubble that says, 'I am enough' and there is a bubble below that reads 'Say affirmations aloud', next there is a photo of a heart with text that reads 'Compliment yourself' and lastly, there is an image of a hand reaching out with text that reads 'Reach out for help'.

For me, mine is spending time outside, listening to a podcast, or spending time with my niece and new baby nephew <3

Comment below your favourite self-care activity!
Maybe somethings don't get better, but we do. We get stronger. We learn to live with our situations as messy and ugly as they are. We fix what we can and we adapt to what we can't. Maybe some of us will never fully be okay, but at least we're here. We're still trying. We're doing the best we can. That's worth celebrating too ❤

Hey @Aife My favourite self care activity is listening to music because no matter what mood your in you can always find a song that describes how you feel 💗

Happy World Wellbeing Week everyone! <3 I really like these self-care activities!

Some of my favourite self-care activities include writing in my gratitude journal! I take some time to list a few things that I'm grateful for each day, and to make things different, I like to do gratitude prompts from time to time

I also like to partake in mindfulness meditation, it really helps me focus at the present moment whenever I think about the past obsessively, or worry about the future. I always feel much more relaxed after meditation ^^

Spending time with my sisters makes me happy too  we like to play a lot of games like uno :joy: it's a lot of fun haha

Thank you so much for this thread @Aife <3

    Happy World Week Wellbeing!

I recently have got into journaling more regularly, as I find it really useful in navigating my thoughts and feelings. I also love listening to music, whilst doing this or having a podcast on.

My biggest piece of advice for self-care is right there on the poster, reach out for help. :) Back when I was really struggling with my own mental health the first real step I took on the road to recovery was when I talked to my family about what I was going through. It's a very big first step and I think it's scary for just about everybody but I wouldn't be where I am today if not for their help. <3

I'm sure this is such a silly one, but honestly mine is just watching all my comfort TV shows because it gives me space to distance myself from difficult emotions at least for a little bit, and I know it's not necessarily the best long term solution for coping, but it's certainly good in the moment for a quick cheeky distraction!! Got to avoid any episodes that could augment negative emotions though (e.g., the last episode of The Good Place, haha) xxx
