Thanksgiving in America

AislingDMAislingDM Moderator Posts: 1,666 Extreme Poster
I know Thanksgiving in America is coming up in the next couple of weeks, and we've seen many depictions of its celebrations on different TV shows (e.g., FRIENDS). My knowledge about how people celebrate is largely derived from these TV shows, as I am not American. However, I have tried to learn a lot about the history behind this huge holiday. In particular, I have tried to learn more about how Native Peoples in America are perceived and talked about in Thanksgiving stories. And so, I am wondering what other people from the UK think/know about this holiday, given that we do not celebrate it?

It's so interesting to me that so many beautiful celebrations are focused around food, whether that be a large meal which requires familial interactions and support in preparation, or in terms of abstaining from eating foods (e.g., Lent) Thanks for replying, Zaynab xxx
