Hi everyone,

I'm Abby and I'm currently studying for a PhD in Psychology. It's super stressful and the pandemic has added a whole new layer of problems, but the last year has taught me a lot about myself and the importance of self-care.

During the pandemic, I've found out the true importance of talking to others about what's on your mind and this has really help me to see things in a different light. Friends are also a fantastic source of support, and I'd recommend that you all talk to friends you trust if you're feeling low. Being there for each other really can make a huge difference, and I would be lost without my small network of wonderful friends.

I'm a firm believer that a problem shared is a problem halved, and having a chat can make an enormous difference. The Mix looks like an amazing network and I can't wait to chat to you guys :3

    Hi :)

The studying is going okay thank you. My research is in the NHS, so has been considerably delayed, but fingers crossed everything is now getting back on track. All the additional paperwork and writing up has kept me very busy during the delay though

    Hey Abby,

Talking does really make a difference.

    Hope you enjoy it here
“And when they look at you, they won't see everything you've been through. They won't see the **** that turned to scars that began to fade with time. They won't see the heartbreaking things that shook up and changed your entire world. They won't know how many tears you cried or even what it was you were crying about. They won't see how strong you had to be because you had no other choice. What they will see though is how compassionate you are because you experienced pain. What they will see is how kind you are because you experienced how cruel the world is. What they will see is how good you are because you've seen how bad things or people can be. The difference between you and your experiences are who you choose to be, despite everything that could have turned you cold and unkind. You are the good the world needs and the best of us.” ~ Kirsten Corley

Hey @Oli  I think us psychology students are slowly taking over the world! The PhD is A LOT of work - more than I think people expect - so it's rather emotionally and physically draining  but my study has just started so I'm hopeful that it will help contribute something to the field and patient care. Thank you for asking
