in We Need You
Hey everybody,
As you all know, while this place has been around for a long time, The Mix is still pretty new. So we're really keen to spread the word and tell people about who we are and what we do.
We're the new kid in class: Cady Heron, newly arrived on the scene and working out who we should be friends with
We want to know who you think we should be connecting with. We know a lot of 'the plastics' - the big, popular sites - so we want to find the cool kids we should be hanging out with.
Are there any other sites you use that we should be talking to?
Maybe they cover similar topics to The Mix, or are places where excellent people like to gather. Maybe they're completely different, but you just spend a lot of time there.. Either way, we'd love to hear your ideas below! :thumb:
Thanks!
James

it is great for discussing mental heath issues, but their are plenty of chillout forums their too
Had a few ideas but not sure if too specific or what your looking for?? What about like organsations which can offer advice?
Plusguidance is a UK based startup project, also new. They are basically an online directory for online counsellors (private counselling, so they charge). But they do have a page ‘help for children and teens’ with helpful links to other sites.
I would say the website that I volunteer for too
The Student Room does what it says on the tin really
Kati Morton absolutely love her. She is an American therapist but her videos and resources are so detailed and amazing and she is also very down to earth. I’ve learnt a lot from her
No idea if any of that is useful though
Feel free to suggest anything!
@Maisy Thanks for those, really useful Which is the site you volunteer for?
Students against depression, they have lots of peoples stories etc: http://studentsagainstdepression.org/
Prospects- info about careers, studying etc and how to write a CV, my uni recommended this for CV writing and it helped me write my first real CV: https://www.prospects.ac.uk/
Link specifically to CVs : https://www.prospects.ac.uk/careers-...-to-write-a-cv
A forum for people on the autistic spectrum, I am personally not a member but find it useful and just noticed it has general discussion forums too : http://wrongplanet.net/forums/
Sane, a forum for people with mental health difficulties (they also run a helpline etc. but it's not free) : http://www.sane.org.uk/what_we_do/su.../support_rooms
Papyrus, I'm sure you are already aware of them but just wanted to reinforce they are extremely helpful for people experiencing suicidal thoughts, and/or people wanting advice on how to help people who feel suicidal: https://www.papyrus-uk.org/
A great self help website for people struggle with various mental health difficulties, also for thing like shyness, phobias, assertiveness etc. (my psychologist even uses this with patients) : http://www.get.gg/
Another self-help website, with workbooks: http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resources/consumers.cfm
Another self-help website, with lots of booklets - I've used it before, it says its for a specific area but anyone can use the self help resources (I don't even live there): http://wellbeing-glasgow.org.uk/booklets/
Probably know about the national autistic society, but just wanted to reinforce that even if people suspect it/may have it but aren't officially diagnosed can use it for advice about AS disorders. They were extremely helpful and informative, they can also send info packs to your address (provided you live in the UK): http://www.autism.org.uk/
Another careers website, can also help with CV's, it is particularly suitable for young people (I used it first at school when I was about 14 or 15, but can also use after you leave school too). I don't know if they still have it, but they did have a careers quiz (to help you consider careers, especially good for younger teens):

Hope they are useful! If I can think of any more I will post them
Edit: One of my favourite free mindfulness resources:
