The ocean is my girl. (teen poem)

My wet suit lies waiting
in the corner of my closet.
Like a penny arcade ride
waiting for a deposit.

For summer sun’s like gold
too good not to be spent.
Surfing waves, smelling boardwalks
I know where summer went.

You see me as a wet suit
waiting for your call.
Here for you to animate,
in love I am to fall.

But I surf not for teenaged eyes.
I surf inside wavy curls.
Unpredictable and changeable,
the ocean is my girl.

That's a good idea, we should suggest it to the mods. I used to write quite a lot of poetry, I still do sometimes - it's not exactly literary genius but I'd like to see what people think of it and to read other people's too.

Yeah I thought. I find it easier to write in spanish cos somehow I can write more freely - things sound less clicheed and trite....

PNJ - I was developing the following poem for my long-term girlfriend. Sadly we split up and I have not yet completed it, but I still like it:

Some things in life are certain
Some things in life are not
But whatever the outcome my darling
My love for you will never diminish or stop

One thing that is certain I am sure
Is that my love for you will grow forever more
Both during the day and throughout the night
My love for you will always burn bright
