    Well, Germany will soon get to find out if those US military bases made any difference to her economy. They're closing, moving east or home. Only a skeleton staff will be kept at Incirlik in Turkey. The bases in Saudi will be closed. It is unlikely that any bases in Iraq will be retained (although treaties for use may be signed). The US will make do just fine with Qatar, Kuwait and Diego Garcia.

    Strange thing. Claims of Imperialism and Pax America while the US closes overseas basing...

    Following the money (now that the Soviet threat no longer exists to hold over the heads of US tax payers). Strange indeed...

    Do those kind of arguments impress on the other side of the pond? Russ Limbaugh certainly seems to make a decent living.
