    Uncle Joe,
We are separated by a common language..

Although poor can apply to financial status, if you check at www.dictionary.com, you will find the following:
    poor
    adj. poor·er, poor·est

    1. Having little or no wealth and few or no possessions.

    2. Lacking in a specified resource or quality: an area poor in timber and coal; a diet poor in calcium.

    3. Not adequate in quality; inferior: a poor performance.

    4. a. Lacking in value; insufficient: poor wages.
    b. Lacking in quantity: poor attendance.

    5. Lacking fertility: poor soil.
    6. Undernourished; lean.
    7. Humble: a poor spirit.
    8. Eliciting or deserving pity; pitiable: couldn't rescue the poor fellow.

Hint, I was not speaking about financial matters, nor was I insinuating you are lacking fertility..

The state of your finances or the quality of your semen were not the point I was making... :D

Certainly not implying humble either..

When I say a person is a "poor sob" or a "poor excuse for a man" no one every thought I was implying he was financially strapped...
    ROTFLMAO!

Me a Marine? Not hardly, but I have enjoyed activities of both the marine and the Marine type.. Please check dictionary, before flying off on a tangent again...

I was a mere occupant of a bad place to be...
If you know what I mean there's no explanation needed. If you don't, well Sir, there's none possible..

If you wish to start a flame war with me? Just ask, you will have no need to twist my words..

Jeez, might I ask who peed (urinated) in your bowl of Cheerios (breakfast cereal)?

    GH,
"Interesting choice of nick, Uncle Joe. Was a common title for Josef Stalin. Is that indicative of something?"

I noticed also, but avoided asking because he seems to get upset easily about the most trival of statements..

In Spanish, the 'J' is pronounced like an 'H'
Thus for me it is and always Uncle Hoe

The wit and wisdom of Mark Twain aside, which definition are you applying to me, and how can I be looking to start a flamewar when when it was you who responded to my post?

I'm not bothered by anything you have to say, but I wonder at what kind of shoulder-based fry you must have to post so wantonly :)

My wit and wisdom is likened to that of Mark Twain?
I like Mark Twain and such an insult to him is almost untolerable..

Hmmm, now which was I applying to you, probably a slanguage but if I tell that will end the mystery of the moment..

Normally I'd say you pick the one which you feel applies best, but I think you already did... ;)

However, knowing that you are not bothered by it, does make it all a rather moot point...

I enjoy spirited debate, however I demand my opponents be capable of self defense.. That's why I abandoned Alladin and Clandestine to move on to those capable of self defense. :p

    GH
Only the contentious Americans that get banned it seems....

I definitely need to look into this contentious word...

    My dictionary says
    1. Given to contention; quarrelsome. See Synonyms at argumentative. See Synonyms at belligerent.
    2. Involving or likely to cause contention; controversial: “a central and contentious element of the book” (Tim W. Ferguson).

I've been given contention to every one that squirms and wiggles, plus two that slither...

Altho' I haven't been belligerent, nor have I offered anyone bodily harm.. Its not that I wouldn't because it is one of my better skill sets, there's just no bodys to harm in cyberspace...

And here I thought I was doing quite well...
Well bloody 'ell fire I'll just 'ave ter work on it a bit 'arder...
In my best cockney, of course...

I was referring to the Twain quote (the 'common language' thing), specifically. The shade of Samuel L. Clemens has little to fear from your prose, passable as it is by today's standards.

And I do have a pretty good idea what you meant, although I can't be exercised to review the options from the previous page. I fear, though, that it was intended to be patronising, which can only lower the level of debate.

Oops, if I fear it, I'd better KILL IT... ;)

You do and to think I was hanging about to clarify any shortcomings..

    Patronizing? Me?
    Uncle Joe:

Then truely sir, you will have to kill quite often..

Just for clarity, because he cannot be "exercised" or "arsed" to scroll back to the previous page:
