I did a boo-boo...

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I was on my way to a hen do in Bath on Saturday at 2 and I slipped on wet stones. My ankle buckled and I dislocated it, and my fibula fractured.

I've had to stay in hospital in Bath even tho I live NW of London.

I had surgery on my fibula this morning and need a new cast and crutches lessons tomorrow before I can go home.

2 of my friends missed the daytime activities and dinner to spend 5 hours with me, even tho' I spent an hour of that asleep sedated, which was so lovely.

The hen popped by on her way home, too, so I at least got to say hi in the end! Win?

Thanks for all the good wishes.

At least the surgery is out of the way now and release is in sight!

Big hugs from you, you have my absolute sympathy for being in hospital waiting for surgery.

I'm doing ok, mananging to get out a bit more, but it's miserable because as long as I'm stuck at my parents' house in the middle of nowhere I can't see my friends

And it's times like these that we become most thankful for the internet, eh?

Totally, I'd be going out of my mind. I might end up missing four or five gigs with band because it's so difficult to travel independently even now.

Update: Because of the second op I can't do the paralympics but I did make the fifth of the band gigs!

I am going to the plaster room this afternoon so hopefully they'll take it off so I can weight-bear on the bad ankle without it for a week before the op.

    But look who signed it!

(It's upside down because that's how I have to take the photo and I forgot to rotate it. Fail.)

EDIT: One of these question marks was supposed to be an upside-down F. I thought thesite used unicode, but it turns out it doesn't.

I'm going into hospital, to have the screws and plate out.

I shouldn't be nervous, but it's only my second op (the first was to put them in!) and the first time I've had a procedure under local.

    :nervous:

You'll be fine. I've always find the lead up is always worse than the actual. You only tend to remember the rubbish bits from the last time rather than all the bits that were fine.

If you're avoiding a general anaesthetic then you're onto a winner. It's that bit of the whole operation malarky that really knocks you for 6.

Aye I'm fine. It sounds well weird when they screw something out of your bone, though.
