Media/Porn Perfection

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I HATE IT!

It depresses me so much, and I know I'm not the only one!

I see people like Megan Fox naked

or anyone in the professional porn industry.

With perfectly toned/tanned bodies
No imperfections on face
perfectly sized semetrical boobs
amazing hair, teeth, eye, nails etc.

Then I look in the mirror and wonder why I cant ever begin to look like that :(

The fact is everyone can argue with me that some of it is airbrushed, and they are fake etc. All true, but if you had the choice, to look normal, or perfect what would you choose? I'm not saying I want to be a slut or a porn star, but having that body underneath my clothes would make me feel confident :(

I hate the media, I hate porn, I hate not being able to achieve this look.

Nobody looks perfect. Not even the people who look perfect in magazines or on TV. You seem to think that airbrushing is ironing out a few creases- it isn't. Look at some of the tutorials on youtube. They basically change everything about the photo, they even copy one of the model's eyes and paste it over the other one to make the model appear symmetrical.

Unless you want to have your eyes gouged out and replaced back in your head upside down, you can't achieve magazine good looks. Deal with it.

I sent that photograph to my boyfriend and said
'Sigh I'm feeling insecure again, dont you wish I was hotter and stuff like her'
and he just said baba your just being silly

    -_-

    Great talk hey?

Made me feel so much better!

I know the extent airbrushing can do because I can use photoshop and do all the techniques because I want to work in the industry. You cant do this on film though. So how do you explain porn stars?

I'm not saying no one has no flaws, and I bet if I did look as good as them there would be something that I wont like about myself.

I just wish you know :(

It actually gets me really upset and I know it sounds shallow or vain or whatever but it really effects me when all I hear is my college mates saying I wish there was some fit girls in our class or I wanna go down to hair and beauty to look at all the good looking girls.

If you're doing any sort of photography or media course, you should know that it's all in the edit, whether it's still or moving photography. Lighting and good photography techniques do a lot and editing does the rest. It doesn't matter whether your doing fashion photography, art photography or glamour photography, the same principles apply.

I don't think it's vain or shallow to feel upset at looking 'ugly'. I do think you're setting yourself up for a big fall if you compare yourself to models, regardless of whether they're pornographic models, fashion models, whatever. You know that it's impossible to be perfect and that these models are not close to being perfect either.

Beauty students sometimes look more attractive because they've been schooled in the art of applying make-up and beauty products. You should ask them for some tips.

PS Megan Fox is fucking rank.

I'm a bit more positive about certain parts of my body than I used to be, but then other parts of my body I loathe even more than I used to. For example, my teeth are a mess and I can't afford to get them sorted out, and I've put on a fair bit of weight recently which has given me new stretchmarks on my hips and my boobs and has made me very uncomfortable with my stomach and thighs. When I'm feeling my fattest, I won't even let Rich rest his hand on my stomach.

BUT in those pictures you can see the airbrush effect on her, because in a couple of those photos she has a nicely toned stomach, yet in another one it's a bit more 'rounded' if you will (less definition).

Why is this getting to you?

If you are so self-conscious that you feel insecure because of some dumb actress, you really have issues. Don't you realise that all this perfection/beauty crap is shoved down women's faces just to try to make money? All those disgusting 'women's' magazines have one subconscious message and serve one purpose, and it ain't empowerment, let me tell you. Ok, so Megan Fox is hot. She's probably about as interesting and intellectually stimulating as a plank of wood. And what would you prefer to have in the long term as a partner or a friend, looks or personality? No argument.

It's all very well and good some other posters trying to make out to the op that all these 'hot' models have personalities of cabbages but we all know that's clearly bollocks. Just because someone is good looking doesnt mean they have no personality!
And to the op - Its exactly the same for guys you know, in fact, women are generally more brazen in looking at hot celebs. The difference being most of us guys know that we will never be orlando bloom/brad pitt/jonny depp so we don't let it bother us.

Nobody is 'perfect'. Who says that this Hollywood/porn star look is the perfect way to look anyway??

It'd be interesting to see the type of rigourous excercise, eating-one-carrot-a-day-diet they have. They probably have to do all sorts of make up routines, spending hundreds on their hair and probably surgery.

It's not beautiful, its disgraceful, trying to make yourself look better than you are, and when they're old theyll be all weird looking with orange, wrinkly skin with boobs that havent fallen south and their faces pulled back so far you cant see their eyes - think Joan Rivers.

If it bothers you this much, dont look at them. People seem to think that other people judge them as they walk down the street but i bet no-one has judged you. Just be confident in yourself, smile, and dont be afraid to show off what you've got, you'll be more likely to get positive attention then.

I try not to look at it, but its everywhere!

I enjoy porn, not sure how many other girls do! But I do! and I watch it and afterwards I have those niggly little thoughts that I don't look as good.

I remember a few days ago I was having sex with my boyfriend, and my thight was crouched up in a weird posistion I looked down and could see what appeared to be cellulite/stretchmarky things.. I felt awfull looking!

    I'm pretty petite, I'm not a big lady, I'm short about 4ft11 or 5ft0
My boobs look semetrical, but my connective/fat/tissue near the joints of my armpits makes me feel chubby.. and my boobs could always do with being a bit fuller!

My stomache isn't flat but isnt fat either. I have a little tubby pouch underneath my belly button. the top bit is flat though but not toned.

My bum isnt great but not bad.

My thighs aren't as round as they use to be, but they have stretchmarks, cellulite and to me seem big. but compared to other peoples are small.

    My legs feel masculine/muscley

My arms are small but somewhat chubby in my eyes.

I've got slight acne on my face and back. its clearing up but still not perfect, my overall texture of my whole body isn't smooth, but not coarse.

Overall I feel short and not womanly, I feel mannish, especialy without clothes and make up.

I don't wanna be a big slut, I dont wanna be a whore.

I wanna be a woman. nice legged, nice breast, nice arse, nice face woman.

Clothes thankfully can cover up stuff, and so can make up.
    So I can feel confident.

    But its not really me.
    Is it?

i think youve got unrealistic expectations of what women actually really look like naked. Do you think most guys look like male models too?
We are not a nation of mannequins. Most people arent even NEARLY perfect but we still look alright, in fact we all look downright fabulous to SOMEBODY.

You want to be in the top 000.1% of the population with regards to looks, well then youre probably going to be disappointed. although You sound fairly trim and petite, im sure you look lovely.
Its all about making the most of what youve got and trying to be satisfied with yourself. Its not easy with unrealistic images pushed at us from all angles, but it is a con - you cant look like that, because even the people IN those pictures dont really look that perfect

    Don't worry about it!

    Hi Goo-goo-Ga-Ga,

I don't think you have to worry about those oh so perfect bodies. This is for some reasons:
    1. Image editing - as mentioned before - is also available for moving pictures and I think it is used a lot. Highlighting several areas of the actors as well as other adjustments are made in family movies as well as in porn movies. Although it may seem that in the last mentioned it may only be in high class productions I still believe they do it there.
    2. From my point of view it is especially the attitude and the character that make your personality. If even your boyfriend tells you "don't bother" so why should you do it? I know some people how are quite interesting and very adorable which don't have the so called "perfect shape". You don't know all those celebrities and as mentioned before some of the are as dumb as a plank of wood as Thunderstruck already stated. What about a nice diner with someone who looks "perfect" but you sit there and have ninety minutes of pure boredom because you have nothing to talk about? :banghead:

Just be confident! Your boyfriend loves you, that's what I read from your posts also it seems you're not totally ugly  Why not having all these fashion items and accessories support your personality. I would bet that if you enter a room with a nice dress, good make-up and your head held high, a lot of men would immediately turn around and watching that woman who has just arrived even if you don't have model measures.

    SG

PS: I really love the the Jamie Lee Curtis photo series as it perfectly underlines my arguments. I love the scene from the movie "Trading places" where you can see her nearly naked not just because of her shape but because she definitely has personality!

It isn't. You might get it on Hollywood films to some degree, and some of the more expensive TV, but I'm going to stick my neck out and guess that there isn't a single porn film in history that has used such technology. It's more expensive than the moon, and requires a computer more powerful than God. Even in film and TV, it's not used to make actors more attractive (with the exception of Ray Winstone in Beowulf), just get rid of unrealistic or unwanted details, like tattoos and so on. Other than that, it's more about scenery and special effects.

On the main point, a couple of things I would suggest. Firstly, find porn with girls that look similar to yourself. There's plenty of stuff out there with "normal" looking girls that's just as sexy as the more professional stuff. Personally, I don't watch any porn with the "pornstar look" or directors who think they're the next Fellini. And secondly, maybe you should do one of those glamour shoots that photography studios offer, and see how you really compare when you've had all of the tricks that the celebrities get. I think they're quite expensive though.

But ultimately, it's about your own self-confidence. Self-confident people don't need to worry about an impossibly beautiful person in a magazine, nor do they need to reassure themselves by looking at celebrities looking like shit. Personally, I think looking at celebrities looking crap only serves to reinforce the idea that people will look at you in the same way if you're not perfect.

Beating yourself up over not being able to achieve those fantasy looks is crazy.
    Why?
Because they're all computer manipulated!! I know a guy who airbrushed his passport photo when he sent it off to a University. THAT is a place you never wanna go to!

Don't judge yourself based on these people who either get professionally made over (to hide the 'normal' side of them) before they set foot outside the door, or who only appear on airbrushed magazines, where a bunch of Photoshop guys touch them up for hours (wayhey) before you see them.

When someone tells you you're hot, listen to them. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, listen to who's beholding you!

*shh* don't tell around, but a lot of men (me included) aren't that attracted by this pinnacle of "perfection" and plastic-ness. It puts me off on real people.

Not to sound rude, but this is a problem you have with yourself, not you have with men or men have with the perception of beauty. You don't need to change anything on you, you are fine as you are. all you need to do is forget those self-doubts and everything would be in butter.

P.S. have you seen the papparazzi shots of megan fox skinny dipping? (I hope I don't make a fool of myself, because they aren't legit), but she's pretty average when not fixed up.

P.P.S. Actresses etc. don't magically have those bodies. They have strict work-out programs to and personal trainers who put them through the mill. If you don't do anything for your body, there is no way you can complain, can you?
All those disgusting 'women's' magazines have one subconscious message and serve one purpose, and it ain't empowerment, let me tell you.

This is quite true. A friend of mine always buys girly magacines for erm... scientific reasons when we travel and need something to read. Believing what they say is as silly as believing in Lovecraft's stories and it's monsters, but the fact that some women read them religiously and abide by them makes me want to rip my hair out. They are so fucking full of shit I had a discussion with said friend whether the editors have a bet going on who can write the most ridiculous and idiotic articles and it's still taken seriously by some.

It usually ends with me ranting and raving and punching nearby objects until the conductor throws us out and we are somewhere between Saint Nofuckingwhere and I'm-on-no-map-of-this-world town.

Sorry, I forgot that middle aged women are meant to stop trying to be attractive because a couple of boys less than half her age on a website halfway round the world don't think she's hot.

The point wasn't whether you think she's hot or not as she's not there for your approbation and I have the suspicion that she doesn't really give a shit whether you give her the thumbs up or not. It's the fact that she is in her bra and pants and not a scrap of makeup on showing what women normally look like before a massive team of makeup artists and hair stylists get to work.

    yep agree with you here..

bringing up beauty is in the eye of the beholder again - this is so true, who cares what one or two guys thinks for example, im sure plenty of other guys will think your attractive you probly wouldnt know who unless you ask em all. So dont worry..really.
