Blood Tests!

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Now I have Blood Test done at least once a month and how come it doesn't get any better having them done.
I makes me feel faint even thinking about it.
And the fact that they could come back with something wrong with me doesn't really help.
I hate them. :nervous:
I could never take drugs through a needle because I totally HATE needles.

Who agrees?

If somebody is giving them to you, try and be distracted. When I get bloodwork the nurse will keep up a conversation, no matter how lame, eh how about that weather :p If not, concentrate on your breathing. Like really really concentrate on it. I thought I breathed just fine while getting blood and piercings and what not until a piercer told me to go "breathe in breathe out breathe in breathe out" and for the first time, and ever since then, i havn't passed.

As much as anyone hates needles, blood tests are a nessacery evil. Just tell the nurses you dont like needles, look the other way and talk about something random to take your mind of it.

Hopefully your veins arn't as deep as mine, because even anesthetists have trouble finding them.

That is the problem sometimes my veins are a bit sunken because of all the blood tests.
The last Nurse I had was really mean.
And I always get a massive bruse.
Thanks for all the advice so far I will try them out.

 And make sure you eat & drink enough beforehand. I didn't and couldn't stand up afterwards.

but remember- don't eat or drink if you've been told to have a 12 hour fast. i had a glass of juice without thinking and was told i had to come back the next day instead because my blood sugar would be too high...

I've had more blood tests than I can remember now and I've got quite blase about them now.
Best thing to do is keep warm before you have it done cos it's easier for them to find a vien... Not look when they're doing it cos that makes it worse in my opinion, and try and think of something else while they're doing it, or keep talking.

I don't really mind them anymore... it's injections I hate... :( Especially that antisickness injection they give you when you're in hospital... Pure EVIL! Still got a massiv e bruise from one I had a couple of weeks ago.

    Its tomorrow.
    Not looking forward ot it.
Lets hope the lady that does my blood tests is off sick.
    I really hope she is.
I am the worst person when having blood taken.
I just hate everything to do with it.
And my arm always looks like it has been beaten up after.

    :(

Well had the blood test today. The Lady doing it said she really struggled to get the blood out of my arm. And at first she couldn't find the vein on either arm.

    But eventually she did.
And this time next week will know the results.
    Lets hope there normal.
    All fingers crossed.

*hugs* You've done really well to get this far and at least when you have the results you can act on them either way. If you don't get the result then it sounds like you may worry about it further down the line.

Call them up, if you find them out then you can completely ignore them if you so want, but at least you'll know.

There were abnormalitie and they want to redo them to make sure they are actaully there not just a thing happening on that day.
Now I am really worried. :nervous: :(

I really wouldn't worry and don't think the worse because it's probably nothing bad at all!

If you aren't going to find out the results then why go for the tests in the first place? The tests could find absolutely nothing at all or it could be something simple that can be sorted quickly.

Well basically there were abnormalities in my blood but they didn't say what they were.

I guess it all depends on how high the levels are and if they are extremely high or just a touch high or at the high end of normal!
