No. I need it as well, apparantely. It's needed to repair and build muscle.

Protein plays a role in all cells, most bodily fluids and other things like hormones, enzymes etc. When you think of things like muscle, hair, skin etc, a significant proportion is made from protein. If the body doesn't get enough, (and because it's not easily stored like fat and carbohydrate) it gets it from sources like muscle, which isn't great because muscle = metabolism.

Oh i was going to ask the same as i think i yo yo in the ammounts of protien i eat - so i will have a bad meat eating day and then not eat meat again for the whole week - but for loads of reasons i dont' particually want to eat more meat - but am struggling to think of other sources of protien.......

I've also found that if i eat something protien rich for lunch it keeps me full for longer

Good sources of protein include peas, beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, cheese, tofu, milk (whether soya milk or cows? milk), eggs and special vegetable products made from textured vegetable protein (TVP). A vegan diet needs to be carefully balanced to ensure that substantial portions of these foods are provided

It mentions TVP, does quorn count or not?

Thing is it was such a simple question for someone to answer and because it's a discussion board other people can read it later.
"what veggie foods are full of protein?"
"pulses, cheese, tofu, beans and quorn"

Yeah, but if you looked for it, you could have posted the information up yourself for other people to read... Simple question or not, it would still have been quicker and more fruitful to search for it yourself.

You could have put a link in like this one Vegetarian Society which was the first link displayed when I googled 'Vegetarian protein' (which is a link I have posted before...) which would have also provided pretty much all the other information that anybody could have needed on this topic.

Just a little effort would have yielded many results :)

My sig shouldn't be read into so much ;) It's simply a matter of lean protein being part of a balanced diet for the reasons I said, muscle building or not.

This is a good piece on daily protein and vegetarianism/veganism.

Ohh =- hum i'm so not sure i have enough protien in my diet - but it seems to be really hard to get the 45 grammes you need without eating lots of fatty stuff or meat but maybe my big meat binges some days will make up for my lack of meat on others - hummm

I mean for example i might eat 100g of lentils for tea but thats only 9g of protien and 300g would be like uber loads to eat in one sitting

    Eh?

Read the link I posted. I've taken this from it:

Sample one day's meal plan to meet the RNI of 45g for an adult women.

    Breakfast
    Museli (60g or 2oz) 7.7g
    Milk (¼ pint) 4.6g

    Lunch
Two slices of toast (80g or 3oz) 7.0g
    Baked beans (225g or 8oz) 11.5g

    Evening meal
    Brown rice (200g or 7oz) 4.4g
    Tofu (140g or 5oz) 10.3g
    Vegetables, Fruit

    TOTAL PROTEIN INTAKE 45.5g

That looks easy to me? 45g is not a lot.

Never underestimate the power of cottage cheese. The stuff makes me shudder, there's no way I can eat it on its own, but blending it with a little coconut milk and strawberries makes it edible.
