I'm really sorry to hear that. Three of my four grandparents have passed away and it's terrible.

    How is your mum/dad coping?

Sorry to hear that, I hope he's not suffering at all. I think that's all you can hope for - and that the rest of your experiences together are good memories. Not always incredible ones, but it's when you realise how precious and scarce life can be that you stop wasting time arguing or falling out or even just not making enough time for each other.

All my grandparents have passed away and although this is odd to say I wasn't affected particularly, I don't have very many memories of them. But I know when I found out my dad was ill I was... not determined but more resolute that I wouldn't waste time arguing, or crying. Last few months we had a good time together :) given me some really good memories.

I hope I don't come across as insensitive in effectively saying 'if you can't laugh then you'd cry' but I've found with many losses in the family that you have to try to find a way to carry on and try to find what joy there is to be had.

The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticiate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly
