Goes for insults and personal attacks as well. There’s a human behind every screen. Some of those humans are having a really hard time. We don’t need to insult or swear at each other.

    well said!!

@BensonE i'm not tagging you. I'm quote tweeting things that are said to me, i haven't tagged you for ages. I'm not interested in dealing with a serial bully like you who thinks there entitled to be rude to everyone, and that you can have your opinion, but if someone dare points out a different one, it's instantly bad behaviour.

I am also getting tagged when I’m being quoted - it’s been a problem for years. You have to take the names out to get around it and it’s v easy to forget in a fast paced thread like this one.

@Sian321 i do believe we had a confession from @Dancer to that when they said that be glad sharing them isn't allowed, indicating they have some.

We're noticing some really targeted and heated comments here directed at one another. As per our point-system, unkind conflict is not okay in this space: https://community.themix.org.uk/discussion/3608002/new-community-points-system#latest.

I really do hear how these updates are bringing up strong, valid feelings, and there's a lot of care and concern being expressed. We're here for you as a Staff Team, and really do want to hear your thoughts, respectfully expressed. We're eager to keep this Thread open so that you are able to continue sharing feedback on the Updates, so lets please keep our tones kind.

    Thank you everyone.

Dancer has messages from off the mix which is actually allowed under the guidelines. I am 99% sure that dancer orginal comment stated that and dancer even said they can't share the messages as it breaches the guidelines

I felt need to clarify what was said

Sian is right. Whatever happened to kindness. This thread needs to remain open as we have fought for this to be the case and being able to discuss these things openly.

Thank you for your questions about which service will be authorizing the age verification checks.

I can confirm that as shared on this thread (https://community.themix.org.uk/discussion/comment/3790150#Comment_3790150) it will indeed be YOTI who run the age verification checks.

You can find out more about YOTI here: https://www.yoti.com/blog/seven-things-you-need-to-know-about-our-digital-ids/.

We'll have more answers to come on this next week!

@Dancer I have countless DM's right now telling me how both of you have been treating other community members in the same way, you don't see me threatening to share them like you've threatened to do, or randomly starting on other people and calling them pricks for no reason like you two have done. Honestly, it's borderline nastiness out of nowhere, just because i shared an extract from the online safety act.

The fact it is yoti is reassuring, definitely. Would be worth having a list of IDs they accept, and hopefully they will have something that young teenagers might have (like a PASS card).

In the same way as things said on here should remain on here, things said in confidence to friends off the boards should also remain where they belong. This is an issue i faced long ago and it is not a comfortable situation to be in.

@Sian321 that's awesome. Yoti is UK based, under the jurisdiction of the GDPR, and have never had a breach before, suggesting they have solid cyber security and great data handling practice's. I'm 100% comfortable sending a photo of my ID to them.

I must say I'm disappointed with the new rules, especially when it comes to pre-moderation. As people have already pointed out, people often need to chat most in the evenings and at night, and I think it would in general make it harder to have conversations and interactions with people if we have to wait for messages to be moderated.

Also, regarding the age verification, does anyone know if people under a certain age need parental permission? Because my parents don't know I use The Mix and I wouldn't be able to use age verification if that were the case.

i have a question about the age verification. will this be mandatory to complete in order to use the message boards? i also have a question about the pre-moderation of the message boards. when will this come to effect? i just need to mentally prepare myself tbh with you. id rather ask these questions on here rather than on a google form because i want everyone to see this.

@Sian321 could you answer these questions please?

Does a disabled bus pass or a debit card work? If neither of those work I'm screwed. Also, sorry for being a dick earlier.

Absolutely @Nemuritai I would like to know if parental consent would be required too. Like i said, I’m an adult and still wouldn’t want mine to know for selfish reasons.

Additionally, even though it may have prevented the extent of the heated discussion today, pre moderation would basically be saying goodbye to active discussions like this, unless someone is literally sitting there just to approve posts, and drinking coffee the rest of the time when posts aren’t coming through (which I doubt would happen lol).

Question about the discussion boards. When you say chats will be checked before going online, will it be in a similar way of how Childline checks their chats. For people who have never used Childline, when you send a message a counsellor would check it to make sure it is safe, this could take hours or even days and I think it prevents users from making connections or friends. Will you be doing this, or doing this in a different way that won't sacrifice users making connections or friends?

Can you answer this for me @Sian321?

@so_very_tired does your bus pass have the PASS logo on it, a picture of yourself and a date of birth? If so it would fall under PASS cards. Otherwise you may be able to verify using a selfie and not upload ID at all, which is what i plan to do.
