stressed

im stressed about college because im supposed to complete this "light" mock by the 3rd of november and i have no idea what im doing. my tutor is going to be offline for the whole of the half term break so i have no one to ask for help so im essentially screwed. ive even been thinking about dropping out of college because of this to escape having to do the mock exam but i doubt my parents will let me. my mum says i have to do the full two years of college whilst my dad thinks that i should only do one year. but im only one half term in so how am i meant to deal with this? the pass mark is 40% too so i have to put some effort in it too.

It’s a mock, so it’s a practice, right? This is where you learn what to do, so you have the best chance in the real exam. I feel like the beginning part can be the hardest as you adjust. I felt like I was gonna have to drop out of uni but somehow I’m still here a year later lol. I expect it’ll get relatively easier as you adjust to it

I hope chat helped with all this. As I say your wellbeing is important, its ok to focus on that. Im not sure if you can have a chat with your parents on how its making you feel. You aren't alone with these feelings, exams are overwhelming even if its mock exams, revision, studying can be overwhelming too.

I have some services here for you too, of course we are here for you too toffuna

i know it’s hard but at the end of the day, all you can do in the mock exam is your best and that is enough. whatever the outcome, your grades don’t ever define you. i can totally understand your situation though with the mock exams as im feeling the same way and very close to dropping out. good luck if you do the mock exam !

i wouldn’t suggest stopping your medication without talking to a medical professional or whoever it was who prescribed your medication bc it can be dangerous depending what medication it is. i’m sry to hear he’s threatening you with if you don’t do the exam then you cant go. maybe giving the exam a go bc even if you do fail at the end of the day you gave it your all and that is all that one can expect from you. don’t force yourself but we’re here for you as a community. <3
ppl dont always need advice. sometimes all they rly need is a hand to hold. an ear to listen. and a heart to understand them. 🧸

Hi @toffuna101 thank you so much for making this post and opening up about what's going on for you. It sounds like this upcoming mock exam is feeling extremely anxiety-inducing, and I can hear how a part of you wants to leave the college in order to get away. I can imagine that feeling like so much pressure right now, on top of your Dad threatening to take away the cruise too.

As @eylah mentioned and @mai too, I wonder whether this mock exam could be an opportunity to identify which parts of the course you feel more and then less confident about, and to get support ahead of the final exam? It's so valid to use mock exams as a form of practice, and to take things from there.

I'm hearing though that the thought of sitting the exam and failing right now feels really, really scary and we hear you. May I ask, what are you most afraid might happen in this situation, and what feels like the hardest part?
