Job interview soon

I have a job interview soon and I feel really nervous which I know is normal. I’m trying not to let the outcome affect me too much and my plan is to prepare well and try my best. When I get a call about a job I often feel hesitant at first because it can feel like a lot to process all at once. It feels a bit frustrating to be hesitant when I actually want a job and I sometimes overthink things but after I take some time to get used to the idea I usually call back and take the interview like I have with this one. The hesitation isn’t because I don’t want to work I do and being out of work is unpleasant it’s more about needing time to process the change and see if the opportunity feels suitable.

If I do get the job I’ll need to prepare to start and adjust to the new routine. One worry I have is starting but then struggling being too slow or the role not being suitable and potentially getting sacked. This concern is stronger because I’ve had setbacks like this before and it would hurt after trying for so long. I’ve also had contacts about jobs that don’t feel suitable like 12-hour shifts zero-hour contracts or self-employed roles which I tend to avoid because they don’t guarantee hours and often pay minimum wage. I sometimes feel guilty or stressed for not taking unsuitable jobs but I also worry about taking a role that might not work out or lead to getting sacked. Overall it can feel like a lot to process all at once but I still want to move forward and try my best.

ppl dont always need advice. sometimes all they rly need is a hand to hold. an ear to listen. and a heart to understand them. 🧸

Hey @Redemption, thank you for sharing this with us. I can hear how you're feeling nervous about the job interview. Well done for getting the opportunity! You're right in that taking on a new role does involve some adjustment, it takes some time to find your feet and rhythm, and the new manager/employer would be aware of this too. But for now, I'd suggest taking things a step at a time. Focus on the interview first and do your best there. It's a lot to process, so break it down into steps so you're not having to deal with it all in one go. That should hopefully help a little with the interview nerves as well. Wishing you the very best of luck with the interview, do let us know how you get on!
