Distraction chat

in General Chat
Hey,
I'm just going to talk about some positive things here as a distraction, to try and help me a little bit.
Firstly I wanted to say, I am making a lot of improvements on my skateboarding skills, I have had many people say I won't be able to do it with having vision impairments but I wasn't willing to listen to them and give up so I kept going and I kept trying and I have improved a lot. I feel like I'm just not scared to fall off it mostly because I fall over daily anyway ha. It's actually enjoyable. I don't have much time to do it really as I am so busy all the time but at this moment in time I do have the extra time to do it, and it helps me take my mind off the current situation a little bit.
I have been given the opportunity to give a speech to some people in my area which feels like such a wonderful opportunity. I am writing the speech at the moment and I am both excited and nervous about it but I'm sure I will do great!
Some people In my community including me have gotten together to fundraise for the fire services in our area who are currently batting the wildfire, and we have raised so much already so that's just felt amazing, doing something positive like that is great.
I'm not sure what else I have to say really as that is all my mind is able to think of right now.

Wishing you the very best for the speech, hope all goes well! And it's a great service to be fundraising for the local fire services - I can imagine that they'll really appreciate, and it's a really lovely and kind thing to do, so thank you for doing this for your community!
Not a problem at all.
I have been learning to skateboard since the age of around 9 so for quite a while. I had loads of barriers with people constantly being at me saying I will never be like them and everything but you know, I can now do so many tricks, I do ramps, I do a lot of awesome things that I didn't even believe I would ever be able to achieve.
And thank you so much, the speech isn't until October so I still have some time to finish writing it and practising and preparing for the day.
Oh yeah, the fire service are really appreciative of the fundraising we have done.
I do try to help the community when and where I can as much as possible.
