2) I can juggle! I taught myself when I was like 9 or 10 and I used to listen to Pokemon theme tunes and try to juggle until the end of the song to practise it lol
3) I am super passionate about reading rn! I go through phases where I don't read for a year but then once I start again, I'm a book menace and never want to stop. Fantasy is my favourite book genre if anyone wants to hit me with some recs!
4) Dang, bringing out the big deep questions. Hm. Maybe that trying to see things from other people's perspectives in every situation, no matter how small or how difficult, has really opened my eyes to the world. Not that it will change how your course of action, or changes how people have treated you, but sometimes it just has helped me to see that maybe things weren't my fault and even if it doesnt excuse it, it made me feel a bit more at peace with certain situations!
1. What do you enjoy most about the Community?
I like how community kind of feels like an ongoing journey that keeps going and we all just hop along for the ride. Some of you folks may stay here for a good few years, others maybe a month or so, but it feels really special to be a part of each one of your individual journeys. You may come and go but that's okay - community is still here. You're all so brave to share with us the good times and the bad as you navigate your lives!
2. What's a fun fact about yourself?
I have 14 ear piercings (I think!)
3. What are you most passionate about right now?
I'm really passionate about ham and cheese wraps with salad cream right now. I think I've had one for lunch everyday this week
4. What's one lesson you've learned from your life that you want to share with the Community?
Grief in whatever format sucks - whether you're grieving a family member, a pet, a breakup, a job loss, whatever it is, it sucks and how you feel about it is valid. But you do eventually learn to live with it and find some peace. It might not feel like you'll ever move on, but you will, and you'll eventually be able to look back on memories and cherished items with gratitude and laughter, alongside that tinge of sadness. There also just isn't one way to grieve so be gentle with yourself as you try figure it out.
2) I have 2 rabbits, Dave and Emily. They are 5 years old and very mischievous! I thought they would love cuddles but when they have free roam they are into everything. Their favourite foods are lettuce and blueberries!
3) Like Leyla I’m really into reading right now. I got back into reading a couple of years ago and now it’s one of my favourite ways to unwind.
4) How you speak to yourself can have a huge impact on your life and how you feel about yourself. It can take a lot of practice to stop being critical of yourself but if you wouldn’t say it to a friend or someone you love don’t say it to yourself.
1. What do you enjoy most about the Community?
Ever since I joined The Mix years ago, it always makes me happy to see people supporting each other - it's one of the things that keeps me coming back each time! To see people come to the community and feel like they can share their experiences and feelings here, knowing they're not alone and will receive support, is really amazing. To every person who uses the community, past and present - a big thank you! You make this community the wonderful place that it is!
2. What's a fun fact about yourself?
I can play four instruments! My main instrument is the trumpet, which I love to play. I used to perform mainly swing and jazz music, but these days I enjoy playing a broader variety including modern pop! It's my creative outlet and gets me feeling really energised!
3. What are you most passionate about right now?
There's two things in particular that I'm really enjoying at the moment. I've been really enjoying my reading lately - some great books that I've found or received recommendations for! The other is Eurovision - I missed the live show last month, so I'm catching up - absolutely loving the songs and performances on show this year!
4. What's one lesson you've learned from your life that you want to share with the Community?
The most important lesson I've learned is the value of serving others. Being generous with your time and money to help others is really fulfilling, and it's a big reason that I'm excited to wake up every day! Whether helping a friend, supporting your local community, volunteering for a charity, or donating to a good cause - all these things make a difference, help to feel more connected, and make the world a better place.
1. What do you enjoy most about the Community?
Honestly, it's the people here that make it such a special place to be. Everyone is so friendly and supportive of each other, it is so nice to see.
2. What's a fun fact about yourself?
I loveee arts and crafts. I'm super into embroidery at the moment and flower arranging. I've also started scrapbooking again - i love keeping track of sentimental moments to look back on.
3. What are you most passionate about right now?
Super passionate about making time for people right now. Since I've finished my third year of uni (which during exam season consisted of me slowly rotating from my desk to the kitchen to the bathroom), I've got some time on my hands to really just connect with my friends and family and enjoy the time I have with them.
4. What's one lesson you've learned from your life that you want to share with the Community?
One thing I've learned is that you're the person you'll spend the most time with in life—so it's really important to take care of yourself. Make space to rest, speak up for what you need, and keep going after what matters to you. You're in it for the long haul, so be kind to yourself along the way.
Oh wow - I think for me its the connection! It's so fulfilling getting to know each of you and such an honour to hear what you share and to be able to simply be here and listen. It feels like a really special corner of the internet!
2. What's a fun fact about yourself?
I'm not really sure where 'home' is for me. I grew up moving around a lot as a kid, and I'm now based back in the UK. It's been hard at times, having to navigate so much change, but I also have learnt that home is a feeling rather than a place, and I feel lucky to 'feel' home in many different places now!
3. What are you most passionate about right now?
Listening and conversation. It's my obsession, haha! I'm fascinated by what it means to listen. By social connection. Conversation. Asking questions. Sharing. It's the thing in life that makes me feel most connected and alive. Whether with my friends or here within my job role..... Oh and the Wicked films! I'm also VERY passionate about them haha!
4. What's one lesson you've learned from your life that you want to share with the Community
It's a quote from Instagram but its really stuck with me - "You cannot shame yourself into change. You can only love yourself into evolution". I think that's a pretty beautiful rule to live by. Shame, and the fear of being bad or 'wrong' can be such a pervasive feeling. But shaming yourself into changing something about you never seems to actually work. I think self-compassion is the root of any shift we're trying to make. Learning to find some softness towards the parts of ourselves that are stuck or afraid to change and to ask them, 'hey, what's going on?' and taking the time just to listen for a bit. Curiosity + compassion = golden combination!!
