    that’s so unfair that she was judging you @River - as a counsellor, she should not at all be judging anything about your situation! i hope you know that if you’re unable to do it yourself, that’s ok, not every can and it’s perfectly normal to need a little help sometimes!

    It’s just I use self harm as a way of punishing myself when things go wrong or when something feels like my fault so why should I do my own first aid it defeats the object of punishment???

    i hear you @River and that is a totally valid way to feel - it makes so much sense that you don’t do it yourself given the reason you do it in the first place. i am not that person who’s going to say to stop using self harm as i get it, that’s how some people cope, but pls just make sure you keep yourself safe when doing it as you matter so so much <3

    @shannon_164 she tried to make out that I don’t do my own because I want attention from college…I don’t want attention if it was up to me I wouldn’t even have college be aware. When they find out I’ve done it they call first aid, not like it’s my own choice

    So I guess now if I do it I have to hide it otherwise I’m asking for attention 🙃

    @River that’s so unfair to say anybody - self harm is NOT attention seeking. yes of course there are people that do hope to gain attention from doing it, but not in a bad way, it’s a cry for help. pls don’t stop reaching out for help if you need it or feel that you’re an attention seeker as someone has made that comment, i promise you’re not. you’re do deserving of support regardless of what they have said <3

    @River your counsellor sounds like a colossal prick and a half. Claiming somebodies self harm as attention seeking is low, very low of them. Even if it wasn't a punishment, 75% of the people in the UK are not first aid trained. The fact that it is a punishment you give yourself (sending hugs friend), makes it even more ridiculous she claimed that.

    If i'm honest river, just based on this, i'd say if you can, try and ask for a new counsellor. Cause this one you have isn't just a red flag. it's the whole red army. And don't think i didn't notice how scary and unnerving going to this session was at first in the run up to it for you. proud of you for still pushing through and going to it.

    My old counsellor said she needed a bottle of alcohol after a session with me

    I do counselling through Kelly’s heroes but I kinda regret it tbh

    @toffuna101 pretty unnerving and a bit intimidating I'm guessing? I remember when at the end of college, i had to go back to my school to pick up my official GCSE certifications for my university application. Scary at first, but everybody was friendly. I'm guessing it might have been the same scariness for you too in the run up to going back?

    @River both those counsellors have been in the wrong making such comments, you don’t deserve it at all and i promise it is NOT your fault! kelly’s heroes also have an emotion support thing, it’s not the same as counselling - maybe you could explore that with them as an alternative? it might be more helpful than your experience with them for counselling.
