What it as well is what pisses me off are excuses all the fucking time, just excuses after excuses, like "exams" , "work" "ooh its a busy time" it's all just petty shitty excuses like exams don't suddenly come up the next day, been "a busy time" for the last 6 months plus. Like the truth is, the community has gone down hill and it's just getting worse and nothing is being done about it despite it pretended to be. Like just admit it , it's heading for rock bottom.

I've not been here for long so don't fully know what it was like before, but i've seen a lot of people making the same point about it going downhill. I mean, I'm not going to lie, the group chat's are like the only socialising time i actually get. But yeah, i appreciate that the mods are overstretched with work and education. But surely this is an argument for more mods?

If the availability of mods is an issue, I'll be happy to sign up to be one in a few months. I just need to get my photo ID first, which I should do within the next month or two, and because I'm unemployed i can happily say I'd be available for pretty much any session.

you have to have left the community as a member for a minimum of 6 months before you can volunteer with the mix🙂

@DonnerKebab thats a lovely offer however please remember that your wellbeing matters to, as far as I’m aware too you have to leave for about a year I think (don’t hold me to it) whilst you’d make a great mod you always come first, please prioritise yourself <3

They won't let you bro, apparently you have to step away for the community for a while then come back, they say they are struggling for recruitment yet refuse people.

i get what you mean but it’s to do with professional relationships etc and does make sense as to why community members cant immediately become volunteers🙂

Crickey, no wonder they're having recruitment issues. Seems a bit odd that rule. Is there any particular reason for it?

professional relationships etc, well i’m assuming so anyways as that’s the case in any other volunteer / paid role ive seen in relation to supporting roles!

I guess, this was the same or similar in my early days but still the other stuff I said still stands and they still could still do stuff to increase the chances in getting new mods.

i fully agree with you on needing more mods etc but i also think it does make a lot of sense as to why community members are unable to be mods until so long after leaving the community.

I agree it makes sense now you've said it, I'm just saying my other points apart from that stand. Just sick of this unreliability and pissing us about all the time, just being told stuff then the other happening, cancellations, things just getting worse. Then excuses all the time.

I'll be prepared for the rest of the week for my more bastard cancellations and shitty excuses. Just carry on fucking us about all the bastard time, I love it

I mean, surely people on the mix who have actually been through support chats would make the best candidates? I mean professional relationships? We sort of already do have that as it is, we're anonymised, don't know each other's names, or any details like that. I mean, even mods join in on the chats don't they, and get to know anonymised people. I don't really see how it's any different really. And, it's not as if people hop on the mix and stop using it after 6 months. The same people using it today will still be using it 6 months down the line i'd assume. Maybe i'm wrong, but it still seems like an odd rule.

But maybe it's not the best idea to volunteer here too you could get poor treatment like this person

They are pretending here these changes are being looked at but they aren't. There's another pointless meeting tomorrow, I was going to go on but it's going to be pointless like the other ones, 1 of the last meetings I tried to get a point across and I was ignored. No positive action is actually being taken after meetings, just gets worse nevermind better. Mods were also stopped from communicating with each other and the same has happened with us members. No wonder no one wants to volunteer here.

It’s about if your okay mentally to be a mod and give support rather then be in chat struggling and being a mod needing support, it’s just to see if you can do okay without the relying on the mix for support and then obviously if you can do the break and they think your fit enough mentally then you can join. I suppose if the staff know someone who is frequently suicidal etc then the break is for them to see if being a mod is okay and so you can stop that relationship if member to being a mod cos the last thing they want is for them to accept someone who is struggling a lot but desperately wants to be a mod, they might not put there needs first so they can be a mod

That "no chats" really pisses me off, makes me want to slam my phone into the wall then petty excuses, justifications like it's ridiculously unreliable, just going further and further down hill.

I unfortunately also think the ban on community members being mods came from a few incidents that happened a couple of years ago related to this. I absolutely can’t go into detail about it, but it went wrong for a few mods because they were still able to talk to us as community members too.

However, we are pretty desperate for more mods atm, and if the break is as long as a year, that is quite something.

That's interesting bc I heard from someone a while ago it was a year, and I'm fairly sure someone else said 2 years (but I might be wrong)

never know, it could be different time periods for different people as consistency is non existent at the mix🤣

The Mix might as well not exist at this point

I think we have to stick together and make the most of what we do still have. We still have the boards and a few chats a week, which is considerably better than nothing.

Maybe stick together and yh boards is better than nothing, just got to keep preparing for cancellations every time now, never rely on them. I'd be surprised if it's not cancelled this evening, tbh I don't know if I'd be in the right head space.

Maybe reasonable for members becoming mods but there's other adjustments that could be made for recruitment that are being fucking refused. Taking the bastard piss all the time fucking cancellations and excuses that's all the fuck they can do just all the time taking us all for fucking mugs. Failing to get any new mods through the door. We're losing mods nevermind getting any more.

@Redemption i totally get that you’re feeling frustrated and upset, that’s completely valid, and no one’s trying to take that away from you, however, that said, in my personal opinion, the swearing’s been getting pretty heavy, and since this is meant to be a safe and welcoming space (with some members as young as 13), maybe you could be a bit more mindful of your language? everyone is of course entitled to an opinion and i don’t think it’s wrong to express your opinion either, but i also think it’s important to be respectful when doing so.

i apologise if this comes across wrong as that is not at all what i mean to be the case but i promise i’m not at all trying to call you out harshly or anything, just hoping the vibe can be kept respectful for everyone🙂

Im really sorry @shannon_164 that my language has upset you as well as anyone else pottentially hurt by my language. I understand, I'll try to avoid the swearing and all that. It's just fustrating and I keeps happening all the time just cancellations etc just literally all the time. I've had a lot on in life too, then I use sessions here to talk about this stuff but they get cancelled, barely any support sessions or nothing at all so I'm limited on places I could talk about stuff, it's more fustrating with everything else going on. It takes a lot to get me angry but when im struggling as it is and cancellations after cancellations happen, it all builds up so you have to let it out and I feel I should be able to share my frustrations. I am really sorry though it got heavy for you. I hope you understand 👍.

I understand Shannon, thanks for the heads up and sorry again for my language. It's just a lot on with the other stuff I have, I know loads of other people have stuff on in life and impacted by the unreliability too though. I need to chill out with the swearing, it's sometime just hard. Hope you're ok anyway.
