Hey everyone, :heart:

So.... I know I am totally early on this thread, but I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we can get support on new years eve, and new years day. I know this year may be difficult and I know how kind you all can be too each other.

Your not alone if your struggling, and we all care about each other.

    Defiantly not too early I feel stressed when people are saying happy new year when they say happy Christmas too. And exactly two weeks left of this year and I’ve done fuck all with my year. Sad:(

    I understand, I think there is such a pressure to be 'happy' but in reality it's not like that, your not alone though, we care about you. I think it's important to remember that you can get through this, and you can be okay, how about making some small goals for 2019, not resolutions as such, but goals for you not for anyone else, like I know for me, I want to start running again, I did the couch to 5k, but had a injury so had to stop it, I got to like week 5 or 6 though, which was a huge achievement for me, 

    Just an idea,

    The social and economic aspects of this time of year stress me out- I don't like spending too much time with people especially when I'm at someone else's place. I don't work often, it's stressful and dull and too physically demanding on my body, but I have gotten great at saving my money and making it go further... which lasts until about Christmas, because Christmas.

    I don't really make new years' resolutions anymore because it saves me any disappointment. Not much is more demoralising than being given a fresh start and a time scale as big as a entire year, and still not being able to get where you want. 

    That's not to say I don't achieve anything in a year! This year I got my diagnosis of depression lifted, started at my first job and made strides towards achieving a safe weight- but I don't know what resolution I would've made last year, and if I would've achieved it this year. Situations change, and that to me is why it's important to be an adaptable person with adaptable goals, and to not rigidly stick to one premise for an entire year til you make a new one the next year.

    People look at new years like they're fresh starts. It's a little kick up the arse of motivation. 

    But every new month can be a fresh start. Every new day, every new hour, every new minute can be a fresh start. Time doesn't clean a slate blank. Every new year, your past isn't erased. You're not offered a new future. Nothing that's already happened changes.

    But, you learn from mistakes. You learn to accept yourself, and to cope by changing and developing- not by punishing yourself for something in the past you cannot change. 

    A new year isn't particularly special. You can set your mind to anything at any time, and that to me is so precious.

    I agree, especially with the part where you said about not setting new years resolutions, I feel the same. I don't set them, I guess for me I have my goals, that is enough for me.

    I hate new years with a passion........ like it just reminds me of another year ive spent being mentally ill and ruining my own life. Another year of wanting to die and destroying myself every way I can..... and the though of another whole new year which i know is going to be a struggle just makes me want to die. Terrible.

    My sisters friend asked if I want to go out with them on new year. I know that’s nice. But can’t help feel like they feel sorry for me and id feel like a tag along anyway. Although I do know her and my sister is same age cause twins and her friends are same age and know them. Would just be weird. I’ll just be alone as have no friends of my own

    Omg well if you ask me New Year’s Day is the most depressing day of the year. Even an occuptional therapist said that exactly to even without me saying how much I hate it or speaking about it. Said it cause I see her on the 31st & she said she hates it too which made me feel less alone 🙃

    Not bad Banana but I guess this year has been pretty good I'm scared to leave it?  Also the new year marks the week that I get the coach home which isn't fun lol I'm staying strong though :) xo

    Sad that the only things I get invited to for NYE is things I’d feel like a tag along to. Na think I’ll just sit at home by myself  using Kopperberg as a mixer with vodka loll

    I always get a bit weepy on NYE even if I liked the year. I'm always anxious about the things that I keep stored at the back of mind coming out in full force.

    Am too overwhelmed. My family are so stressful in January & start of New Year and think I can change my life like right now. And speak so much about the year ahead. Too much pressure.
