So, I came across this via Twitter http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-30261980 and was shocked and saddened to read such thing! It's clear mental health wards have rapidly been cutting beds.
But is it really acceptable/safe to hold a unwell 16 year old in custody for more then a couple of hours???
I experienced similar but as my mental state was too high at risk I was found a bed - but with there being no beds at all in the UK are more lives going to be taken??
What's your view on this???

The NHS isn't facing cuts; it's budget is ringfenced
They are cutting beds though, aren't they?
A 16 year old shouldn't be in custody.
I thought this as well.
I was always threatened with the "we'll just have to put you in our suicide watch cell" I'm not sure if that would have been a normal cell or more moderated to the needs of a mentally unwell person?

There is, But these places can be filled up quite quickly. Last time I was detained under a 136 I was held in a police cell for almost two days because there wasn't any beds at the 136 suit, there's four beds at the 136 suit in Bristol, but they we're all taken up, and when I arrived at the cell there was already someone there in under a 136 so it made the wait even longer.
It's no place for someone of any age to be when they're mentally unwell, the chances are you'll be strip searched. Having a police make you take of all you're clothes and squat infront of their face, if you refuse they handcuff you and force you too. Is this really how a Mentally unwell person should be treated?. You're locked away in a cell. sometimes you're on constants so the doors wide open people going past gourping at you, and all you can hear is the drunken idiots screaming, shouting banging, which made me hallucinations worse. You can't sleep, its freezing, the toilets disgusting and you have someone constantly staring at you.
Its an expericne I've done about five times, I never wish to go through again, sometimes I've been unable to have my own clothes and they've put me in their suicide clothes..
