I have a hatchback with a pretty small boot, I normally have a slim tool case with spare bulbs, spanners, etc and a car starter just in case my battery goes flat or need to help someone else jump start their car.

Do you see this becoming are serious debate?
Somehow I suspect the closest you come to having a car is a bicycle .. :chin:
nope don't count ...
Not unless you have a can of tyre weld in that bag ..
Nothing very exciting at all.
Nothing that would help me out in an emergency! Except maybe I could wear the seat covers if I got cold
Your assumption is rather correct. I don't think I would have one even if I could afford it. It's not necessary where I live (very good public transport system). I almost never have the feeling, "damn, it would be good to have a car right now."
Oh yeah me too!
Water, 2L of water (mainly for my wipers actually
Buggy (for the boy most of the time if its needed)
spare wheel under the carpet obviously
blanket, incase i get stranded n its cold
24hr Army reg rat pack with hexi burner (if I ever got stranded on a trip, good to have something to eat ) and with the water you can even make coffee
I'm guessing water is pretty vital.
Screenwash, engine oil, jump leads and a blanket all sound pretty useful/sensible. What else?!
I also have (under my passenger seat but not in the boot the de-icer, oil, maps etc
Kermit - I've never ever had to top my radiator fluit up but i got told part distilled water part engine coolant? but heck i've never had to do it my service has it done for me
LOL, I was going to say "a dead body" as well, but you beat me to it :-)
