What's in the Boot of your car?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I have a hatchback with a pretty small boot, I normally have a slim tool case with spare bulbs, spanners, etc and a car starter just in case my battery goes flat or need to help someone else jump start their car.

Somehow I suspect the closest you come to having a car is a bicycle .. :chin:

A team teach work book, a cushion and my parcel rack, that is unattached.

    Nothing very exciting at all.

I have my pink seat covers (because I took them off to wash them and was lazy and left them in there), my hiking boots, a bottle of screenwash and a bottle of antifreeze. Plus some other junk like old cardboard boxes/plastic bags etc

Nothing that would help me out in an emergency! Except maybe I could wear the seat covers if I got cold

Your assumption is rather correct. I don't think I would have one even if I could afford it. It's not necessary where I live (very good public transport system). I almost never have the feeling, "damn, it would be good to have a car right now."

being a fairly recent legal road user: what SHOULD I have in my boot...or at least somewhere in the car?

I'm guessing water is pretty vital.

Screenwash, engine oil, jump leads and a blanket all sound pretty useful/sensible. What else?!

On modern cars you're not really meant to use tap water in your radiator but you shouldn't have to top the radiator up that often anyway.

Its funny how many people do not have the essentials, or what i would presume to be the norm,

I also have (under my passenger seat but not in the boot the de-icer, oil, maps etc

Kermit - I've never ever had to top my radiator fluit up but i got told part distilled water part engine coolant? but heck i've never had to do it my service has it done for me :p
