It depends, review boards often have a combination of professionals, elected officials people in civil offices.

ie not people who've got their views from watching TV then.

If we can have experts guiding and advising juries and official inqury panels into cases of professional or medical negiglence, then we certainly can have them too for police operations as well.

Yes, but it only goes to them after the professionals have decided that there's a case to answer, or do you think every time someone dies under the surgeons knife they have to go to court...

Anyway it was investigated by the IPPC.

Might this be the second occasion when The Independent will have to use a front page like this?

Are you suggesting that before the police go on any operation they have a lawyer give them a lecture?

I fail to understand how heaping more pressure onto people already doing an impossible job, from a bunch of people who have no real experience of anything.

You as well as anyone knows that you only need to read the opinion pages in newspapers from so-called experts that they are often ill-informed and basing their entire opinion on something they read in a book once. They're certainly not talking from experience.

And maybe we'll put the same amount into catching the murderers of Enniskillen.
