Is being a virgin after 16 still cool?

    Nothing is wrong with being a virgin at 17. I'm 17 right now, I am not a virgin although. But I believe that when you lose your virginity, it must be with someone you love, and someone very special to you. I've been with one person, I loved her dearly and she loved me just as much. We are no longer together, I broke up with her (for good reasons, trust me) but I don't regret losing my virginity to her, because we shared something very special. As for sex after your first, it doesn't really matter to me too much. If I'm looking for a relationship in which I want to fool around, sex is in. Although if I want a loving, caring relationship, one that I believe will be long and promising, then I will want to wait until feelings of love are shown to the person, and when I get feelings of love back. And of course, if we are both ready for it. I would never take advantage of a girl, for example if she was drunk. Even if I have had sex with her previously, drunken sex seems for some reason wrong to me.

    It is better to have loved and lost, then to have never loved at all.

    Right, I hope this still goes under the same topic but I'm kind of asking for help for me... hope thats allowed!

    So anyway, I'm a bit worried about today cos I'm going on a first-date with a guy who I met for the first time three weeks ago and I've not seen him since that night but I'v spoken to him on the phone quite a bit and we text each other at leats twice every day! So anyway this all sounds nice and lovely etc etc but I'm worried because I'm a virgin and have only ever been out with guys who are also virgins (just happens that way) but Tony is nearly 20 and I really doubt he could be a virgin.

    I know sex wont be an issue tonight but is it right for me to start this when I dont think I will be up for sex for a long time (I know I'm nearly 17 but I have issues with sex) and should I tell him?

    ohhh I dont know what to do. I dont have a problem with being a virgin and I think its a really good thing, I like surprising people when I tell them because they always think I wouldnt be a virgin.

    What do you think guys/girls? should I be seeing him at all? should I speak to him about sex? when should I? Am I worrying about nothing......?

    well since you havent started seeing him yet its a bit premature to be worrying about sex. i understand what you mean... but you never have to have sex if you dont want to. if you end up going out with this guy and he wants sex, and either tries to do things you arent comfortable with or talks to you about it, you should tell him you dont feel ready as its your first time, and nothign personal but maybe tell him about your past and the issues you said you had, if you trust him enough.

    no one should just "expect" sex in a relationship, and if your boyfriend (being optimistic here <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif">) says he wont stay with you unless you sleep with him or something equally immature, hes definitely not worth it!! there are other things you can do apart from full sex anwyay, and if hes that desperate, well he always has his hand! <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif"&gt;

    If you don't know where you're going, you'll probably end up somewhere else.

    Yep it sure is! I'm nearly 17 and still a virgin, and to be honest i don't think there's all that much stigma about really. Lose your virginity when YOU are sure you're ready, not when your bf pushes you into it, or u feel left out cos all ur friends say they've done it (u know most of them are lying anyway!)

    Thanks v v much GFM... I read your reply just before I left and realised I was being silly but I still felt a bit nervous especiall seeing as he was picking me up etc etc (car slag stuff) y'know.

    But great news! Aww I'm so happy - the date went perfectly and he was the perfect gentleman! After me worrying about being pressured into sex, I found myself wondring if he was going to be too gentlemanly to kiss me at all! hehehe we did actually share a lovely kiss in (the front seat of) his car and we parked just outside my village on the way home and talked for three hours!

    My mum wasnt too happy when i woke her up at half one becuse i'd forgotten my keys! <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/wink.gif"&gt;

    and yeh - still a virgin and still ever so proud

    well, im 17 and im still a virgin. i have done some things but it never got to the point of sex.
    this was one of the reasons why me and my b/f broke up. he wanted sex and i didn't. he kept pressuring me to the point that i was really cross and tired of the whole thing. i nearly give in if it's the only way to shut him up as i didn't wanna lose him. he was nice and he was different from any of my past ex's.
    worse, all my friends were doing it too, my bestmate was forever going on about how sex is so great and how i should try it too...i am 17.
    i don't know why i broke up with my b/f and why i didn't listen to my bestmate. it was like a 6th sense telling me not to do it. i know the time i know i'll be ready is the time i have NO doubts...but right now, i have too many doubts.
    now 3 weeks after breaking up with my b/f...im actually glad i didn't give in. if he really cared for me, he'll respect me right?
    so i think hanging on is not uncool. it just means you're not ready and it just means when it comes to your first time...it'll be special.

    Being a virgin even into your early 20s is fine. I lost it recently (at 20) and my theory is: the longer you wait, the more 'gagging for it' you are, and the more intense it is.

    When it happens with the right person (this is very important) it is great and you'll end up staying in bed all day!!

    definition of virginity anyone?

    does a woman who has given hands and blows but not yet "penetrated" qualify as a virgin?

    is virginity all about the breaking of the hymen?

    well i kinda come in the "lost it to the wrong person" catagory, all u people r right u should not rush into it or be put under any pressure.

    being a virgin after 16 is cool and not being a virgin after 16 if u lost it to the right person is also cool, but if u lost it to the wrong like me then its deffo not cool!

    one of my biggest regrets is losing it to a lad who put me under pressure to do it and being innocent and vunerable i did. but as far as me and my bf r concerned we lost it to eachother (he did lose it to me)

    all i can say is hold onto it as long as poss until the right person comes along!

    You actually have to have sexual intercourse to lose ur virginity, so if a gurl has bin fingered or woteva, no it doesn't count.

    i'm still a virgin and im very cool <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/cool.gif"&gt;

    lol just kidding! <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif"&gt;

    i think you're still a virgin until you actually have penetrative sex,whether the hymen is already broken or not, losing your virginity is the act of havng sex for the first time. imho.

    Hi im new to this site, but ummm i wanna say im 16 and lost my virginity wen i was 14, although i wasnt in love with him!! we had a great time..
    im soo glad that im not a virgin still, my boyfrend who ive been with 4 about 4 months is 20 and we get on really well... our relationship isnt just about sex, its just that sex keeps our relationship stronger.
    Best thing is too start early..
    We love each other and we r talking about getting married,
    i think ppl who have sex 2 young like, 11,12 only do it coz they are forced 2..
    coz ive known some ppl who have been forced 2 have sex at 12, its not fair,

    I JUST WANNA SAY SEX IS GOOD......
    BUT DONT B ASHAMED IF UR A VIRGIN..

    Welcome to thesite Natalie. Yeah, i agree with you about the last statement you made <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif"&gt;

    I recently lost my virginity (im 16) but i did only cos im in a very happy relationship with my gf, i would of waited as long as it takes as i wouldnt sleep with anyone, i would have to care about them and love them to share something that intimate.
