im not the best person to advise on bad interview technique, having just made it through the group selection and one to one interview for asda and im now training

sorry smug mode there for a min.

i had an interview for safeway a couple of years ago and i didnt get the job, i was really crap and not really prepared for answering any kind of difficult questions like "why do you want to work here?" and "why do you think you'll be suitable to work here?" etc... and i ended up talking really fast and quietly and mumbling coz the woman was majorly intimidating me and i had a prob then and was really shy. so i guess thats never a good thing to do!

soemoen i know brought in this list once of all these things NOT to do in interviews, it was well funny. have to see if hes still got it!

best way to mess up an interview? start randomly shouting at your other self and making odd faces.

And all the grown-ups say is sorry, cos we got no reply.

ugh i once had an interview @ boots and they asked well shitty questions that i couldn't answer.

They told me b4 i went in that they were v.hard and i cud pass n go for another Q in that section, n i ended up passing on all of them so i pretty much flunked n didn't get the job

I thin the worst interview question has to be "when have you demonstrated team work?"

Also @ university interviews they ask you really weird questions. I was speakin to sum1 b4 n they said they got

"describe a wine glass."

Like derrrrr what has that got to do with anything?!?!?

dont go in thinkin u know everything, act as if ur willing 2 learn, even if u do know everything.
dress adequately, not lookin like a hussy or a scruff.
have a question/s to ask them so u at least sound as if ur interested, dont sit there quiet, or answer with just yes, no answers.

ive not even had any uni interviews, i was meant to go for one but they changed their mind before i could tell them teh date was unsuitable nad just gave me an offer instead! which was nice. i was meant to go for an interview at warwick but that wasnt even my insurance choice and to tell you the truth i couldnt really be bothered.

i got asked loadsa hard questions for asda, like "what is a good example of customer service you have experienced?" and a bad one etc. ummm what else was there.. i dunno, too tired from bloody working there to remember!!

Or ' oh sorry, your guardian angel was talking to me there' summit daft and really insane ... im sure you're more creative than me .... although not in the bedroom department

I can't resist We all know that Karla must have been hired for her charm, intellect, beauty and wit... but perhaps, not for her spelling and/or typing skills

I've only ever done two interviews, one for WHSmiths where I started the job a week after applying, and then a Head Girl interview where I didn't get a post, even though they told me afterwards they were very impressed with my interview.

So I reckon before you go in for interview they've pretty much decided if you're going to get it from your application letter. Just being smart and thinking beforehand about the sort of questions you might be asked so that you feel confident should mean you do fine in the interview.

But sometimes no matter how good you are at interview they're still not going to take you on just because you're not the sort of person they're looking for. IMO the worst way to mess up a subsequent interview is to worry about why you didn't get the previous thing, so I'd advise staying positive.
