thats what i wanna know, i just had a really good question for her too
Shame it had to be deleted, was one of the most interesting debates I've seen on here in a long time.
That was a 'she'? How do you know?
she did say she was a she lol.
i was really interested in reading that bio thing she was doing too
I'm horrified and pretty much deeply offended by how many users ignored the message posted about reported posts this weekend and instead made no effort to protect this charity for being responsible from posting racist, bigoted and racist material.
So, cheers.
I suppose you don't really have a choice in the matter, even if you yourself found it interesting.
Ditto
Personally I'd always side with Voltairé (i disagree with you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it...) but we're a charity, with funders and with the charity commission looking at what we do and publish.
We have to draw lines on what is acceptable and I understand that some people, as I might, might want to see an entirely open debate on race, but the content of so openly a discussion and promotion of deeply racist feelings creates huge problems.
After all, would you really want to work for a charity that promotes the idea that black people are inferior, would you want to raise money for a charity that publishes replies that says Jewish people deserved it? Would you really, as Vodafone, want to fund a charity that uses its money to say Indians deserve to be treated as second class citizens?
I'm sorry if I seemed harsh in my initial reply, but it's important to recognise that freedom in any society comes with boundaries, and to provide the service we do, we have to make some compromises, and one of those is around our signing up rules. Where a debate on race may be valid, racists posting aren't if you all want this website to still be here in 1, or 5, or 100 or hell, in as I would hope 1000+ years...
I hope that gives some sense of the brutal reaction to the white power thread, and people understand...
Can anybody answer my questions that she was going to tomorrow in her biography?
What's the deal with the Klu Klux Klan? They mix white power with christianity, which is very strange, as Jesus was Jewish and from Israel.
What's the White Nationalist view on drug use? In American History X, Derek Vineyard says "weed is for niggers - have some self respect". How come many modern day white nationalists seem to be against drug use, when many high ranking SS generals were morphine and cocaine addicts, and I'm sure many racist skinheads in the US are meth addicts today.
The result was a link between hard drugs and the very poorest and most vulnerable in American society ( especially the most vulnerable and still povery ridden black communities ).
Bottom line, if Hitler did it... no problem - if black people are sold it to undermine their community then it's all black peoples' fault.
Check out and watch (especially through Torrent which might be the only UK acess to the show) the mini-series The Corner by David Simon for an utterly brutal and heart tearing view of American destitution and poverty...
Scorn, abuse and a quick 'now fuck off' is all they deserve.
But Judaism and Christianity are two seperate religions, they just come from the same source... Kinda like Islam and Judaism of Islam and Christianity.
Religion is a tool, it can be used to manipulate. The KKK are Protestant (aren't they?) and Protestantism to them has been morphed in to something quite unpleasent.
Because racists are people too.
You don't deal with racism, sexism, homophibia and the like with a "fuck off", what has that ever achieved?
You change people's minds by engaging in peaceful conversation and education, not in telling them where to go. "Fuck off" gets people's backs up, it doesn't show a good constructive arguement on your side and that is something you need... Regardless as to whether they can offer a constructive arguement too.
That's why IMO is best not to feed the racist trolls and encourage them by trying to engage in conversation. In fact, I actually see it as legitimising their views- by giving them consideration they most certainly don't deserve.
Anyone who seriously holds such views is going to ignore reason and common sense no matter how elaborate and well put they are anyway, so it's a waste of breath for all concerned.
All these things have taken a few generations to (relatively) sort out. You do it by arguing constructively, yes, but you rarely change the minds of the hardline racists/homophobes, you change the minds of people who haven't really thought about the issue. They look at the arguments you put forward, and the completely unreasonable reasons the racist puts forward (because I've yet to see a logical point ever made by a racist), and realise that your argument is more reasonable. And by doing this, racism gradually becomes unacceptable over the years. But I agree with Aladdin in the sense that you're never (or very rarely) going to change the mind of the person you're actually arguing with.
Hate + hate = double hate imo
No, you're not going to change some people's minds, but getting aggressive (and "fuck off" is an aggressive term) is not going to help the situation, it'll only make the individual either enjoy the rise they got from you or get defensive.
"Fuck off" doesn't make you right, or a better person. It just means you have as little to say as the racist.
I disagree... I've met people with racist views who have been willing to talk and then consider the other side of the coin. People react to what they are given and if people keep on telling them to "fuck off" and treating them like kids in a playground then it doesn't help things.
Why is it legitimising their views anyway? Since when was asking questions or having an opinion 'wrong'?
I actually find some racist people interesting to talk to and would love to know why they are racist, what has happened to them to make them so. It is not a case of black and white, good vs. evil... It's more complex than that.
Maybe, just maybe, she'll go away after our debate last night and think about what people said to her.. remember she never socialises with black people, they are like aliens to her and that is where her ignorance has come from, breeding her hate. Hard though it may be, you have to try and understand where such feelings come from, because no one is born like that. Once we understand, we have to try and re-educate and inform, as that's what is usually lacking for them.
It probably won't make any difference, but if everyone thinks like that then racism will never be beaten, it will only grow.
That my friend is the wrong attitude - you are being just as bad as them. There are a few good but misguided souls who express such views - indeed, many former White Nationalists have gone on to do good things - some I have heard of even joined Che before the CIA got him.
And some leave the movements after realising what it is and offer the authorities valuable information on it.
Whilst it would be fun to go and mow them all down with an M60, some deserve a second chance.
Yeah I know, but Protestants still see Jesus as the son of God and view him as a martyr... which I think is why the KKK burn the cross at their ceremonies... but even the Christian bible says that Jesus was Jewish and from Israel... their whole religion is based upon worshipping Israeli Jews, yet they still mix it with White Power and Anti-Semitism. It doesn't add up to me.
A little unfair. I doubt anyone reading that thread would be confused over how little support there was for this racist shite. The level of scorn and counter argument meant that only one person was putting forward anything to support the racist views - and even then, while I was engaged in the conversation, there wasn't anything to back up the claims.
What the thread showed to me was how the people you are funded to support have very clear views about racism. That is something to be lauded.
Having said that, I understand the concern.
TBH I thought that we couldn't report posts, sorry misread.
But yeah, sorry, little carried away with that reply
You? No surely not.
Hmmm, is there a thesite.org article on the dangers of binge drinking yet then Mr V?
