What is that bloody song?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Please don't move this to Entertainment - it's not a song song, just one of those gay ones you used to sing in Primary School.

Anyhoo, me and my friends were singing lots of silly little songs the other day.. because we're awesome.. And I suddenly thought of a song we had to do actions to alllll the time, but I totally forgot how it goes and I can't rest until I've figured it out.

It's something about 3 men building a house out of sand.. and other stuff. And it goes something like.. "The rain came down and the flood came up, the rain came down and the flood came up, the rain came down and the flood came up and lablahblalala.. Build it up with bricks and water, build it up with bricks and water.." etc.

What is it? :(

The Wise Man and The Foolish Man

The wise man built his house upon a rock
The wise man built his house upon a rock
The wise man built his house upon a rock
And the rains came tumbling down

The rains came down and the floods came up
The rains came down and the floods came up
The rains came down and the floods came up
And the house on the rock stood firm

But the foolish man built his house upon the sand
But the foolish man built his house upon the sand
But the foolish man built his house upon the sand
And the rains came tumbling down

The rains came down and the floods came up
The rains came down and the floods came up
The rains came down and the floods came up
And the house on the sand went ploof

So be wise and build your house upon the rock
Be wise and build your house upon the rock
Be wise and build your house upon the rock
On the rock of the Lord Jesus Christ

Oh my word, were they really the words?

All I remember is lots of waving arms about and elbowing people in the face that used to go with it...

Please tell me it's not actually meant to be "ploof"? Because that is just pureamusement.

Although I am quite tired, so simple things...

I remember that bit, as well.

Bri - your copy paste skills are obviously mediocre, because that person has clearly missed out huge chunks of song. It hasn't got the "build it up with bricks and water bit" either, and I DEFINITELY remember that being in it.

Yeah, we didn't sing the Jesus stuff. I know, 'cos I would have had huge issues and walked out, or threatened to. I was a bit of a hardline atheist back in the day...

We sang that at church last week, but we can't sing songs that call God "he", so it has to be "God's got the whole world in God's hands..." etc., and it's a right pain.

    True story.

I know, it's such a wonder that they made reference to building your life on Jesus in a biblical song.

I'm just amazed that they didn't sing about building your life on recently refurbished, council owned land with scope for further development which would regenerate the local area. Such a better ring to it too :(
