I know this is linked to the last post, but this morning my mum found out that i cut, and i know Sy won't have sympathy and say i was attention seeking, but why did i cover it up for 1yr and half?
So, i lied and said it was an exam stress thing and that i had stopped doing it..but should i be honest and say i do it to calm myself down? I don't think she can really understand, and it hurts her. She hugged me and said talk to me, but i find it hard. She cried a bit and i know how much it hurts her but i don't know what to do?
Help.
Thanks.

I dont knw mch about this kinda stuff, but try to talk to her, i knw mums dont seem very understanding some of the time, but if u want to stop you should see some-one, talk to some-one even if its not ur mum, some-one who could help.
you should try to tell her the truth, as if u lie it will always catch up wiv u! and make things harder.
its up to you weather u want to continue doing this, or weather u r going to stop it. if it hurts ur mum u shd try to talk to her. ur proberly right she wont understand and wont see it form ur point of view,
i dont know how helpful i am, as i dont knw what it is like for you, but hope u sort things out.
pleeeease talk to her tourette, there's nothing worse than your child being in pain (mental or physical) and not being able to do anything about it.
of course she won't understand, but you can help each other, believe me, she wont have stopped worrying and she'll probably just try to keep you away from sharp things, which isn't really going to help is it?
you might find that telling her as much as you can will give you a kind of release.
good luck

be happy
Lolly, i feel the same way as you are with your parents. As Mel C once so poignantly said (lol): Things will NEVER be the same again
How long ago did ur parents find out Lolly? What age? Maybe they pass it off at a teenage thing?
Thanks for caring anyway.

good luck (((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))
Urgh... tough situation.
On the one hand it hurts so much bottling everything up and having to hide all the time, but on the other you don't want the misunderstanding and the possible feelings of shame.
It's different, but when some of my friends found out I just couldn't bear the disappointment in their eyes.
But your mum loves you, and she obviously wants to help you.
If you feel that talking to her will help, then go for it. It can bring an enormous amount of relief talking to people, and at least if she knows it's one less thing to think about hiding.
People so frequently seem to misunderstand, but you have a great opportunity here to enlighten one more person. She will listen to you, and you can explain to her so that she won't misunderstand. There are also numerous resources on the web that you could direct her to to help her have further insight into your situation.
But ultimately, do what's best for you and what feels comfortable <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif">
