If it's done on a blank wall, :thumb:
If it's done to cover something that the painter doesn't agree with,

I agree, I like it on a blank wall but not somewhere which is inappropiate e.g wall on someones flat, childrens playpark etc. Some people just get carried away but generally talking the big spray painted stuff is a form of art imo!

No, but you get the mural paintings in Belfast, which are actually quite artistic and good to look at. You can get tours to see alot of them I think, because they're entrenched in the history of the city. I like the more recent non-paramilitary ones commemorating George Best etc.

Like when they draw over a poster or another graffiti, either because they don't like it or because they don't care. Blank walls do exist, use them!

only so many blank walls exsist in safe places to paint :P

and you'll find that most writers will respect a fresh piece, but to throw something up on a wall and expect it to last indefinitely is stupid!

I don't. And it's not only the blank walls issue either. Simply, they should avoid covering something else (not talking about graffitis now), especially if it's something new. If I'd spent my day putting up posters on a wall (because it was my job or because they were about something I felt strongly about) I'd be vomiting lava if the next day it was all covered in graffiti.

yea, the taggers and bombers are just giving sprayers a bad name.
a real piece is art,... we have a legal wall near my place. There is so awesome work on it.

    I love it.

I think the vast majority is tagging shite and probably 1% of the people who vandelise property are actually artists.

Bristol (and especially down by my end of town) is full of great graf; I think it's wonderful. It adds character and life to what would otherwise be a pretty ugly area and some of it is really topical and expresses community feeling.

As for covering up posters etc., I disagree with most of it but I think a lot of subverts are awesome - i love seeing them on billboards

There is some really impressive around.

Did anyone see that faking it, where they had some accountant or something who had to become a graffiti artist? It was pretty good.

I used to do some taggin. It's where the name Skive came from. Grew out that shit though and wasn't good enough to do it for art.

    Aye I think it's class.

Some of the murals in Belfast are amazing to look at, even though they do glorify death and shit like that.

As ever, I make a difference between graffiti and tagging.

As far as I'm concerned the former can have artistic merit, redeeming features and it is not always an eyesore.

There is only one answer to the problem of tagging however:
