No Daze you are not, freedom of speach does not allow for persecution of another's colour, creed beliefs or religion. and persecution is exactly what this is !!. I think you have made you point about your feelings to this alternative lifestyle which is exactly what this is... so like I said give the guy a break... or are you tryin to get yourself banned ? Why not slag off Eminem too cause I hear that one of his songs goes on about beating up his girlfriend or something. Now is Eminem a goth? Do you yell at people who like Eminem?

Daze How on gods green earth can you possible justify yourself and believe you are in the right. there was another man with the same ideas as you about a different group of people and his name was Hitler. Are you going to try and justify his ideas as well(if any of you are wondering where i get this from read the original thread where daze clearly stated that all goths should be wiped out)
What gives you the right to tell other people what they can and can't do. I'll tell you what NOTHING. there is no force on earth that gives you the right to tell other people how to live their lives.
And lastly you mentioned about impressionable 14 year olds - may i just point out that the only person who has mentioned all the sick stuff SOME goths do is you I have never even mentioned it once.
I'm not even a proper goth I just have some gothic leanings in the way i dress when I go to a goth club and in the music i listen to.
I'm also submitting an email to Karla requesting daze to be banned because behaviour like this is unacceptable against anyone.

I was holding my breath trying not to get involved in this but Im sorry I cant hold on any longer. Daze I think u r well outta line with all this shit about goths. We all no u dont like em and Im pretty sure they dont think much of u but just give it a rest! The reason I have quoted this post is because of wat u say about cutting. Its not something u k=just grow out of daze, its a seriouse problem that requires some sort of help... not just a silly phase that will b grown out of.
I thought quite a lot of u daze but I gotta say this has totally changed my oppinion, I didnt realise how judgemental u r. If this was a new person saying all of this then they probably would get banned, if u carry on then u deserve that to happen to!

Daze has a point. It may not be the most clearly stated, well argues point, but it is a point nonetheless. And he entitled to state it. Granted, he stated it over and over agian. But then again, we all argued against it. over and over again. and it kept on going - a self-fulfilling prophecy, i believe.
So rather than react like you are people, why not accept Daze's point of view, accept the points he is making, and simply let it slide. You haven't won the argument by banning him, you must realise that. You've simply shown that you are weak, he is weak, and that you must report to higher powers.
So people, I suggest that you allow Daze back on the boards - with a warning. Then when he posts up his goth-hate comments, ignore him. he is a valuable member of thesite at times, and maybe it is time for us to be a little more tolerant of views that are against the norm.

its not up to us to unban him or not, thats the choice of the moderators. if it was anyone else theyd be banned immediately, newbie or not newbie. so it isnt really up to us.

I'm not prepared to let displays like this topic slide. I'm not talking about one or two posts each time goth is mentioned (although that gets boring)
I'm sorry he's been banned, and I'll miss his other contributions, but I don't think he gave the moderators much choice.
I certainly don't like the way that Malkav handled it - his message here read as confrontational. But given how he was treated last time I can see why he might have been on the defensive.

I think that's his rationalisation. I hope it isn't just something he uses to justify himself here.
If it really is the reason he's attacking the wrong people. it should be the artists not the fans, other music styles have far more objectionable themes. And, as far as I can see Manson et al aren't even goth bands. All this is beside the point, as (I beleive) Daze wasn't banned for expressing his views on goths (he's done that enugh times in the past) but for the manner he greeted MaLkAv's return.
I'd like to see him back, but not at the expense of calling that reasonable.
The first point I'd like to make is that it's the fans that make a band. If people didn't latch on to a band, and what ist stands for, then the band would not gain popularity & would cease to exist.
My second point is that malkav returned to the boards with an obvious intention of stirring up trouble. his opening line was :-
This first line was obviously intended to antgonise, it put my hackles up and if you disagree then you must be incredably thick skinned.

At least one other person joined in, but were they banned? I'd be interested to know.
In my opinion malkav would have had an easier time if he had changed his name too, as others have done it the past. He chose not to and I believe that this was an active decision, to produce exactly the effect that it has.

this is part of what makes me say it aint a goth band - goth bands don't get into the charts.
that and the 20 or so goths that I know say it isn't.
I've said elsewhere that I wasn't impressed with what MaLkAv had written

I had another read through before posting. I saw no ranting - people agreeing that goth was bad, but no rant. - 18 of the messages on the first page were from Daze.
I'd also like to make an observation if i may - but why are there a considerable number of people trying to make it look like i'm the bad guy
id have to say i agree. and especially following turtle's comments. i dont want to cause any arguments or whatever, god knows there've been enough of them lately. but i honestly do not see what you have done wrong malkav or why everyoone seems to have descended on you once daze got it into his head to pick on you.
i dont wanna bring everything up from before, as i know pretty much everyone seems to be with daze on this one, well okay so a couple believe he was out of order.
you didnt seem antagonistic to me on the first page, it looked like a geniune attempt at reconciliation. and i dont think in the first post you did much to wind daze up, just mentioning you were knda on the edge of liking goth music etc. okay you got wound up, anyone would have done when their friends got insulted and their whole way of life, and not all goths are like the ones daze is thinking of anyway, how many more people need to testify to that?
so anyway not sure what my point was with this, other than i agree with what you said up there ^^^
