I was just wondering about peoples opinions on what is the best mega drive game around or what you must have in a mega drive colection.

here are a few of my favs:

Beavis and Butthead
Mortal kombat 2
Splatterhouse 2 & 3 (still scare the shit out of me)
Ren and Stimpy
Streets of Rage 2
Golden Axe 2

Can you also do me a solid and tell me some rare ones?
Beep boop. I'm a bot.

    Streets of Rage 2

    Yes.

In Russia we bought a Mega Drive and some of the games, apart from the above, that we enjoyed playing were:

    - Brian Lara Cricket
    - Sunset Riders

But by a country mile, the best one was Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. In this game, and this is not a word of lie, you had to guide Michael around the place, rescuing children from such places as windows, car boots, and from behind hedges. The police try to stop him, local thugs try to stop him, and once you reach the Thriller level, even the undead try to stop him - such is the extent of Michael's desire to find the hidden children. I'm sure back then people thought nothing of it but it was jaw-droppingly hilarious to play in this day and age, knowing what we now know.

Any of the Streets of Rage games, Golden Axe, Sonic, Street Fighter and Road Rash.

    Sums up my Megadrive experience.

*goes to look on ebay for a bargain*

I'm shocked no one has mentioned Gunstar Heroes yet. That game is immense!

Sonic 3 and Knuckles (Sonic 3 plugged into that backward-compatible Sonic & Knuckles cartridge) is probably the best Megadrive game I ever played. It varies so much with each character and it seems to last for hours when you play it.

Bubsy the Bobcat is by far the shittiest game I've ever played. Just... why?

The most disappointing had to be Corporation. The packaging shots made it look like the 3D "Wolfenstein" clone we all wanted but it played like a spaced-out pensioner.

Micro Machines (I think it was MM 96 to be exact) was a great multiplayer game. I played it again recently and fell off the table every few seconds but in its day it was a great game.

What the Megadrive really missed was a top quality beat-em-up and a great racing game. The SNES had Street Fighter II and Mario Kart, which pissed on any equivalent that Megadrive had to offer. On platformers, SEGA won hands down.

See on Ecco the Dolphin, did anyone finish it? I got up to that skull type boss loads of times but never beat it. Was there a bug in the game that stopped you finishing it or was I just doing it wrong?

You can avoid ebay. Download the Fusion emulator and search coolrom.com for Genesis games. You can get any game you want and it's exactly the same as playing a Megadrive.

The EA double header one was a game i got WITH my console, oh many a night was spent all night long playing those :D and of course the very first FIFA, where the easiest way to score was to runa and shoot diagonally because the goalkeeper could NEVER save from that angle.. oh how i beat my cousin like that, and he was not a happy chappy :p

    Sonic 1 and 2
    Rampage

That's all I can remember really. Let's face it, the SNES was far superior. *takes cover from the Megadrive fanboy backlash*

I think, in terms of the history of consoles, the only thing to ever compete with the Mega Drive is the PS2 in terms of quality and games etc. The MegaDrive is/was completely awesome and some of the shit that you could coax out of an alleged 16-bit machine is quite amazing.
