Staying cool!

Teh_GerbilTeh_Gerbil Posts: 13,332 Born on Earth, Raised by The Mix
People. Suggest ways to stay cool indoors this summer, what works for you? I am fucking baking here. Fan is on 3, and I am still hot!

So, what do you do? Windows open. Fan on. Curtains closed. What the fuck else will help? Besides air con?

My processor is still only 37 degrees. Computer is good at being cool.

This shit? Does it work? Is it better than just putting cold water on oneself?

I spend 99% of my day in nothing but boxers. Believe me, it doesn't help at all with this heat.

We did a scientific experiment* at work one day and discovered that while fans make you feel cooler, they raise the overall temperature of the room. Thus = hotter.

If your curtains are lined with a light coloured fabric, keep them drawn, but your window open and it'll do wonders for keeping the temperature down :thumb:

Turn on a heater, put on a big fur coat and run laps.

The hospital you wake up in should have air conditioning.

Move to a part of the UK where it is permanently cold. Anywhere north of Birmingham should do.

    Ooh 12000 posts SG :p
I object to your Northern-ist comment - York has been very hot lately  so there.

Edinburgh is hotter than the day that the heating in Hell was stuck on 'A trifle warm chaps'.

Get some ice and rub it on the inside of your wirst for a while (in the place people would check your pulse)

Its something to do with the ice cooling down the blood flowing through a main vain is supposed to help cool the rest of your body! :thumb:

I've never understood what the point of air conditioning is.

It certainly kills as far as the wallet is concerned. The person who invented air conditioning needs to be dragged out of his or her house, and forced to apologise at gunpoint for lumbering the world with something so pointless.
