very cool I love that thing
Stoli is the best thing is Braintree. Send me some Russian stuff, eh? And a woman! :thumb: Glad to hear your enjoying it. I'll see if any Megadrive games still lurk in my house, I know my mum sold the MEgadrive without permission (grr!)
Take it easy out there! And post pics of your Lada if you pick one up!
Yeah, it is most cool!
i swear thats what he said when i first read it
Yes sadly Google is wrong on a couple of bits.
I assume the second bit was meant to be "how are you" which is как дела.
No idea what the last bit is about. Всего хорошего means "all the best".
We already have our most awesome Mega Drive up and running and I have already completed two of our 6 games for it (so lots of Russian learning going on then...). It is a most awesome device and my roommate, a crazy Sri Lankan landed gentry type (also from Bristol) went to church on Sunday and lit a candle in thanks for it. I thought it was most funny.
Fortunatley there is no need for copious clothing as, due to the big electronic sign thingy outside the internet cafe, it is 18 degrees which I imagine is slightly higher than back in good old Blighty! Rumour has it that it gets up to 40 degrees in the summer as we are closer to Turkey than to Moscow.
The women keep getting better. I have an undercover photo of the world's shortest skirt, taken on the tram yesterday. When I figure out how to post it, I shall. We have also seen many awesome Ladas with many hilarious occupants. Unfortunately, we are still to take a Lada taxi, of which there are several.
Jarvey - Joe is my real name. Did you think I was actually christened Thunderstruck?
No, I didn't edit it - otherwise it would say so. The ladies are a lot cheaper than $100.
Take care all,
Joe (Thunderstruck :banghead: )
Sound good out there :thumb: .
Yeah, see if you can get some pictures up! That'd be ace.
Why did you think I'd be hairier Violette?
Oh that it were true.
The sun is shining, I'm not hungover from last night's clubbing and everything seems to be going swimmingly.
Last night, we had our first experience of a russian molodyozh (youth) club. It was most excellent. It was everything that a proper nightclub should be. Tables, booths, full food menu still in operation at 3am, proper Eastern block Electra music, pole dancers (considered wholesome family fun out here), huge 2 ft. shishas for 200 roubles (around 4 quid) filled with beautiful Georgian wine and lashings of hot ladies. I love this place so much.
Not much else to report. Our search for a Lada continues, albeit slowly. Our Mega Drive is most awesome. Our game collection grows by the day but despite all this, my Russian is coming along at a blistering pace; not surprising since it couldn't really have got much worse when I arrived.
Still haven't experienced the joys of a traditional Russian banya (look it up - you will be astounded) but that's another thing on the to-do list.
Take care my tavarishi (comrades),
Joe
You sound like you're having fun ;d. This is good.
Loves to you .
That's just about how cool I am that I got on two different channels yesterday. The reason apart from my inherent awesomeness? Well, we had a total (95%) solar eclipse yesterday at the university and I was up on the roof with all the TV cameras who naturally included me in copious shots. I shall try and get a copy of it to show my mum.
Things continue to get awesomer (is that a word?). The temperature gets warmer (I haven't seen snow in 3 weeks). The mini skirts (or maxi-belts as they are known over here) continue to get shorter. I can't wait til the heat really gets up and summer clothes are fully adopted. Off to the beach next weekend to a place called Sochi which also has a bid in for the next winter olympics...
Only 4 weeks til my holidays which I intend to spend frolicking around Moscow and possibly Petersburg (again). Mosow is generally considered one of the most decadent cities in the world - it has more casinos than any other capital city in the world and more billionaires than anywhere else in the world (42 at last count though Kurdukhovsky may soon not be on that list!).
Owing to my star appearance on telly, I'm not a bit of a star round campus. Free English lessons to maxi-belt wearers!
Be excellent to each other my comrades.

Woot. I must moveot Russia.
Here's hoping.
:thumb: Quality.
So Russia treats you well sofar? Goodo... keep us updated, and when you find a Lada... post pics.
My dearest comrades,
A big hello to you all on Victory Day (May 9th). Today is the day that Russians celebrate victory over those naughty Germans in what the Russians call the Great Patriotic War (known to us as WWII). Sadly gone are the days where tanks and cruise missiles roll through Red Square but it was still pretty impressive. Sadly aswell, you needed a pass to get anywhere near Red Square but the TV coverage was good.
The more astute of you may have guessed that I have made it to Moscow. The south wasn't that great but I do have to go back there tomorrow
Moscow is the fucking balls.
Driving round at night, passing brand new Porsches and Ferraris and looking at the city lit up, it looks like I imagined Gotham City to look like. This place throbs (nuclear power the most likely explanation.) I've done loads of the cultural stuff but I'm back here in June for some more partying which incidentally is fantastic. The most recent jaunt caused me to be wandering around the city at 7am on a sunday having just left a club looking for a metro station. I love this place.
Yesterday I went to the circus. It was fantastic. The dancing Cossack and Jewish monkeys being particular highlights.
Hope I've made you all sufficiently jealous.
Much love,
Joe xxx
PS, some piccies taken by me.
Just to prove how much like Gotham it is, I found Batman's grave
Grave of my favourite writer ever, Nikolai Gogol
The inimitable St. Basil's Cathedral
The White Siberian Tiger at the Moscow Zoo
My parents did the Moscow -> St. Petersburg trip on the railway, said it was fascinating and loved every minute.
Yes, i'm Jealous.

So the nightlife is good? Awesome. sounds ace over there, I have seen pictures at night of Moscow, and the University looks bloody amazing at night.
And that Siberian Tiger looks super cute.
Glad to see you are having a good time :thumb:
