Well then lets start by stopping the perscustion of foxes for fun hey?
Whatever...like I said, fox hunting is irrelevant when there are more important things going on.
The fact that the commons has turned over so much of its time to debate about it is annoying.
And, we have always played "blood sports" anyway, in one form or another.
2000 years ago humans were the ones being slaughtered in the name of entertainment. Do you suggest we start bulding gladitorial arenas, pay atheletes to fight to the death, with a healthy bonus if they win...?
We've always had murder; it doesn't make it right.
I don't think anyone was suggesting a return to gladatorial combat. You talk as if it is vital that we have some form of killing for entertainment going on. It isn't.
Here, here!! Fully support that view.
I'm a veggie (so obviously don't eat meat) but I'm not blind to the fact that animal testing is necessary, even on cosmetics *prepared to be flamed*. I don't like the thought that my make-up most likely was tested on some cute little rabbit called Flopsie but I'd much rather Flopsie and friends died and suffered than me or my friends. These animals are bred for testing and don't know any other life (and I know that doesn't make it any better for them). There are very few cosmetic companies that haven't at some point tested their products on animals and even if the final product wasn't tested it's very likely that the ingredients were. I don't like the thought of animal testing but what are the alternatives? Perhaps people could get paid to take part in this research but imagine the complaints that would cause.
As for fox-hunting, I'm not quite sure how it constitutes a sport. I understand farmer's arguments that there are too many foxes and stuff and I suppose that they can be justified *thinks long and hard about this* in shooting them. How some tosser (gross generalisation I know) can find it sporting to put on some wanky outfit and ride around on a horse with a large selection of starving dogs can be classified as humane and just I don't know. It's hardly a fair fight is it. Bullfighting I don't particularly agree with either but at least there is a chance that the blokie waving the red blanket could get injured or killed makes it slightly fairer *choosing to ignore fact that if bull gets too close to man it gets shot, for purpose of argument*.
Anyway, I fear I've digressed here and possibly put across opposing views but have kind of forgotten my original point. No doubt this will stimulate further discussion though and I prepare myself for the onslaught of abuse. <IMG SRC="eek.gif" border="0" ALT="icon"> <IMG SRC="eek.gif" border="0" ALT="icon"> <IMG SRC="eek.gif" border="0" ALT="icon">
Now to address these animal rights weirdos. Most are city dwelling people who only see the countryside on their little day trips to interfere with other peoples lives. They seem to forget that nature is cruel; animals kill eachother by ripping eachothers guts out. Period. Whether we choose to watch is irrelevant.
Part of the reason why society is so fucked up is because of intolerance for other people.
What about the amount of time they spent in the commons talking about the Queen Mother?
They spend time talking about fox hunting because it is an important issue to many people and they represent ordinary people.
I couldn't give a shit about the queen mother either. Old people die of old age everyday. That's life, no point making a fuss over it.
Just because something is not important to you personally, if it is important to many others then the chances are it will come up in the H of C.
And don't roll your eyes at me. <IMG SRC="rolleyes.gif" border="0" ALT="icon"> <IMG SRC="rolleyes.gif" border="0" ALT="icon"> <IMG SRC="rolleyes.gif" border="0" ALT="icon"> <IMG SRC="rolleyes.gif" border="0" ALT="icon">
