First Direct debit cards...

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,875,648 The Mix Honorary Guru
Oook so I have a problem. My mum is on holiday, but she left me with her debit card to get some stuff for her while she's away. My dad put some money into my account to get my birthday present off the 'net. But it wouldn't let me buy it because my card is Visa Electron (gheyness of it). So I used my mum's, with every intention to transfer the balance over straight away (or asap). But I don't know which number on her card is the account number, and neither did the man in Barclays. So I can't transfer it. But I dunno if my mummy got my message saying I was gonna buy said present with her card. So I need to know sometime before Tuesday (so it gets to her account by Friday). Which bit is the account number?

Thanking kindly.

Franki

    sort code is 6 digits

    mine for example is
    41509500 acc number
    40-19-31 sort code

incase you want to donate some money
Yer, I know that. But the card doesn't have a bit on it that says "account number". Where the account number is on mine, it says card number, and it's too long. But I are sorted now.

    Stupid cards.

There should be a cheque book thingy belonging to your mum with the account number on it but you're sorted now so it doesn't matter.

MrG I seriously hope that isnt your real account number

There should be an 8 digit number. That is the account number.

Here is an old Electron card of mine

ETA: Are you sure it is a debit card and not a credit card???? Credit cards wont have an account number!

    That's what mine looks like.

And yes, it's a debit card. The man in Barclays didn't say it wasn't. And like my mum would give me her credit card ;o.

All we can do with that information is give him money, not steal from his account!

This is what my mum's looks like (note: her other debit card doesn't have "DEBIT CARD" written on it either, and that's definitely a debit card). Except it's Switch rather than Visa and it's black ;p.

Then the card number is probably the account number...

on my first direct card my account number is the last 8 digits of the card number (main huge one across the front - not to be confused with the 10 digit card number at the bottom....hmm)

Nope. The Card Number is a 9 digit number. Shoulda changed that really, oops.

I have been told that it's the last eight digits of the second line in the middle. Which means I got my sort code bit wrong oops. Oh well. I know which it is now :p.

i'd have difficulty, cause they're one of the few banks that will lend against our type of house.

oh, and i wouldn't trust them to get it right.
