    I thought it had already been proven and that Church records would show that as Christianity spread it dovetailed itself onto existing ceremonies in order to be more attractive.

    Christmas itself is the winter solstice festival of old...
    If we all celebrate Christmas... why not celebrate Eide, Hannukah, all the other festivals?

    But how many of us actually celebrate "christmas" as the birth of christ...? Isn't that the point of this thread...?

    silly point but people in this country may not be christians/pagans as such but as a whole most peoples beliefs/ethics/morals stem from basic christian ideals as we are a cultural christian society, much liek there are practising jewish people and cultural jewish people who just celebrate events etc etc
    personally christmas is all about just being with those u care about and the nice food, dont care too much bout prezzies now unless they proper sentimental ones
    and christianity was spread into this country by merging soe of the main existing pagan festivals into its own religious calnder, like who knows when christ was actually born, nowhere does it say 25th december in bible im quite sure but tagging a day to it sure makes people rememember it more
