For mothers day? I was gonna get the Borat film for my mum, but she went and bought it herself, so I'm back to square one. What are you getting?

Well, I've given it a lot of thought and decided not to buy her anything this year.

She'll be happy with that, afterall she's always taught me that it's the thought that counts.

Actually I got her a pampering kit thingy

Either these choccies on a stick that you stir into hot drinks from Hotel chocolat and some flowers. Or a pretty tunic she's seen.

I didn't even know it was coming up. Oh well, my mom's on the other side of the country until next week, anyway.

Think a pamper red letter day will be easy enough.
    Good Call.

My mums birthday is this week too. So i've got her a couple of CD's as a sort of joint thing. Ah Mothers Day, another time of year for the card companies to make money out of chumps.

Well I'm really really poor at the moment so I've just bought her a £20 Marks & Spencers voucher (so she can get herself a bottle of wine or something) along with a card. I can't afford to buy a present and send it in the post or buy some flowers (as they are at least £30 for a nice bunch) so yanno.

I've got her a card, and I might get her some flowers or something but it's the day after I get back from uni and I'm going to be out all day so I might do her an IOU for me to cook her a nice meal later in the week or something similar.

Blimey, only £30 for a bunch of flowers if you specifically seek out an expensive shop or use interflora or something.

You could get a huuuuge bunch of lovely ones from tescos or something for under a tenner.

 My Mum usually prfers the Lillies from Tesco. They are about a fiver a bunch and with £20 you can make a really decent looking vase full of them.

Interflora are a rip off. If you are far away and sending them though they are good!

I'm not at home though. I'm about an hour away. I'd have to get them delivered and most of the places I've looked at are at least £25 and thats for a tiny bunch

i also feel bad for her as it's her first mothers day since her mum died. :(

She's told me she wants nothing. She'll get some chocolate though, and maybe something from work on Saturday, because of my discount.

I am very much skint :crying:

My Mum (along with my Dad) is currently in Devon and coming home on Friday. She is bringing back lots and lots of clotted cream, and so on Sunday we are having afternoon tea, prepared by me - I'll bake a cake and scones to go with the clotted cream.

My Nana and Grandma (plus Grandad) will be coming over too, and I'm making them all small flower posies instead of getting big bunches cos it's been all their birthdays lately too and they've had big bunches for that.

It's not costing me much because I got all the ingredients for the baking in with the food shopping last week! :D

ETA: Just remembered I also bought my mum two mugs last week. She's just turned 50 and stopped working (we call it retired! ;)) so effectively she's now a lady who lunches and does the occasional bit of housework. The two mugs say "Housework won't kill you - but why risk it!" and "We can't both look good - it's either me or the house!" :)
