I want to eat more fish. but I am a student and really shouldnt buy too much expensive food...

I buy nice salmon when it's on offer at the super market, but apart from that it's just frozen salmon fillets I put in various stuff.

any tips on what's good to eat & what to do with fish other than salmon?

got some tuna steaks for tomorrow, should be yummy :yum:

    seabass.

get some tomatos, peppers, boiled potatoes, chicken stock, garlic and anchovies. sprinkle with oregano and put some olive oil on top. bake for 30 mins then put in a sea bass and bake for another 30 mins. :yum:

cheers guys, I'll have to have a look next time I go shopping :)

already eat the obvious ones like tuna and salmon, was wondering about others.

like, what can I do with a fillet of sole or other white fish?

minimi38, that seabass sounds lovely! probably would make too much for one though...

Something else to consider as a fish eater is wheter you are contributing to the depletion of fish stocks through supporting unsustainable fishing methods. In other words, buying the wrong fish. Have a look at the Fish Online website for some good information, and in particular at the Pocket Good Fish Guide, dowloadable pdf link here.

 I had been thinking about that too, which is why I dont buy cod. given that (I think) it's endangered now or something.

    is it?

hmm... that's a shame. not surprising though really.

just read pdf LadyJade provided, seems there are still some sustainable tuna fisheries, so all is not lost :)

Oh, and as far as your student budget goes, can you get to a fish market? They will be fresh and cheaper than supermarkets...
