    Well no, that's surely you're work, not the NHS. The NHS don't require you to show work an appointment card, your place of work does.

    I think that BumbleBee may have been referring to the individual place that you work. Whilst it may come under the NHS, it could just be your boss specifically that requires proof. I work for a school but I could also say that I work for a specific county council or LEA. It would be the school that laid down rules about what to do if I was off sick though ... within guidelines laid down by the council.

    I'm not sure that I made sense there. I'm also not sure that I've understood BB correctly but that's the way that I read it.
