American's say "math" where as Brits say "maths", what is the correct saying?

    It's short for Mathematics....

    Math would be an abbreviation I guess, and Mathematics would be an ellision type thing.

    I say maths, all the mathematics lecturers on my course say maths, so make up your own mind ;). The only guy who struggles is this Hungarian guy and whenever he speaks its like hes got trapped wind, keeps stopping like he's trying not to burp. I love the way he says big mathsy words though. 'These two vectors are colinearly dependant'. Ahh :)

    I always say maths however in my coursework i was putting "math problems" because i thought that was the proper way to say it :blush: maybe not after reading this post.

    Should be pronounced 'shedule' NOT 'skedge-ule'. I'm not brilliant with English but that one get's on my tits.
