Are these things worth it? There's a few career paths that I'm interested in going down, paths that when I was at school I never thought about or even knew existed, so therefore I never worked up to them (Going through Uni etc.) But these DIY courses are offering them.

Are they actually recognised by employers? Anyone got any info?

    OU degrees are recognised, just like any other.

    Sister did an Open Uni degree in English, and she's doing alright for herself now so...

    Me and her share the "I can't be arsed" gene in the family, and I seem to remember she found it really hard to get on and do the work off her own back and taping stuff on BBC2 in the middle of the night etc.

    The lack of a students union (and the cost) puts me off a bit though :razz:
